But she didnt sell... So im going to take this as a sign and keep her, I was planning on selling it and buying a nice truck. But i guess now i will just but the extra 6 grand in the dsm. I never really wanted to sell my car, But it seemed like the smart choice since i am always poring money into it that i will never get back. So anyway, It looks like you guys have to put up with me for awhile longer :D

We knew you'd be back :)
Plus why would you want a truck? You'd lose money on gas...

Why would you want a DSM? Why not a Supra or 240sx or any other car? It's a rhetoric question. Trucks are great vehicles, especially ones like the Pathfinder, Toy PU, 4Runner, Jeeps, etc etc. With the right buildup, you'll go places you'll never go with any other sports car. Offroading has piqued my interest and I have been looking for either a XJ, Toy PU or a 4Runner. It'll also make for a great winter car. While others are stuck digging their vehicles out, I'll just climb over the bank of snow in front of me.

sometimes i consider selling mine, but then i go drive it. then i am like, nope, definitely keeping this one.

also, it would be expensive to make something handle better or be faster, unless of course it was an evo or sti. and in this economy i sure as hell am not buying a new car that gets crappier mileage on top of the 400-500 dollars a month in car payment.

im with sargev55.. i get about 22 mpg and i have a ton of mods (check profile..) i wouldnt sell mine for nothin.. i just need to stick some money into the drive train and get traction now LOL

i need to do the tpc, isc motor, and a rear motor mount LOL.

under the hood is nice, all you need is a little bondo, sand paper and paint, and you can also refinish your hood, just sand her down really good and throw some clear coat on it, or whatever they use, not sure.

you must have not sold it because you told me i made you feel bad for leaving. ha ha

a little paint and bondo goes a long way, here are pics of what mine looked like when i bought it

Yea... Its just so hard to put the money in the car when i know i will never get it back, When rite now i can buy a $12,000 truck, 04 with 46,000 miles. I have some thinking to do because as much as i would like to keep her it just isn't very smart money wise. Like me and my dad where figuring out tonight, If i keep it and put 2 grand in it, That means il have 6 in it, Then a few years from now i will be lucky to get 4 for it. Where if i just sell it for 4 or 4500 now then il lose less in the long run, Plus get that truck that is allot nicer. So like i said i have allot of thinking to do :confused::confused::confused::confused::cry:

12000 for a 04. that sounds a little high for a truck, just because of the economy

How else are you going to tow the DSM? :p

Does your Eclipse really need anything right now? Need, not want. If not, I'd just keep driving it around and save the money for a truck. I understand your want as a truck is going to most likely be my next (and hopefully sometime soon) vehicle purchase. Also, have you looked at other trucks? That one looked in very nice condition and has low miles. But have you found some that are maybe a bit cheaper with more miles and maybe a few years older? This way while you're looking for another truck, your money's in the bank earning a bit of interest. And if you have $6k already and were looking to purchase a $12k truck, if you find something for $8k or $9k, that just means it'll be paid off faster and all yours :thumb:

It's all about want vs. need. I'm going through that dilemma right now since I just started a job after graduating and got an apartment. There's so much stuff I want to buy right now, but you obviously have to budget.

The truck will be good transportation for quite longer than the eclipse. You still have to remember it will probably need some decent maintenace at around 50-60k. Reliablity wise its a no brainer though. The truck will last twice as long as the eclipse that is not ment to have a turbo on it.
Also remember, you will have a car payment, higher insurance expense since its a newer vehicle.

IF you put money in the clipse now, make sure its reliable and looks good all that exciting stuff, you will probably get a good amount of life out of it depending how solid the drivetrain is. Dont expect to get any more back from ANY car that you buy. Once you drive the ranger off the lot a put a few miles on it, its no longer worth 12k.

Anyway to sum it all up your car is not practical unless you live in a climate that has perfect weather all around and not one pot hole on the roads. In bad weather or after hitting a pot hole when that pretty body kit goes flying, your going to end up looking like a kid driving his "project" car which is usually a civic, hondabondoed up and beat to shit by the weather and climate. Not trying to bash, just being realistic.

Good luck

Did you see the ebay action? LOL It runs fine but needs allot of work...

I wouldn't say it needs a lot of work. To a perfectionist or someone who really cares what their car looks like, yes it does. But as you said in the eBay ad, it's in great running condition. So I wouldn't really worry about it too much. If it bugs you, put it back up for sale, or try other used car sites. It would take more money than it's worth to fix all of that up.

Dude what attacked your hood?! And I mean honestly it's still not that bad. If you have 6k saved up, spend 1.5k of it on a new paint job. Get them to fix it all and respray it northstar white. Get the hood painted to match. Other than that your car is gorgeous buddy. I'm not fond of bodykits, but if you've got the spool to back it up, then we're good (=

I was gonna say something very similar....normally I hate body kits but your car man it just works like that. Yes its ricey but it looks good. Like stated as long as you also got the go for that show.

Car guy, why not just get the stock bumpers and paint it and sell it. That shouldnt be 6k.

Because

Stock body kit - $400
Paintjob - $1500

$5,000 (what i have in the car) + $1,900 = $6,900

And i probably still would be lucky to get $5,000 out of it after all of that work.

I would sell the hood, the bumpers and side skirts so you can make some extra cash. And you could buy stock parts used. check out the junk yards, sometimes they are expensive some times they are cheap. and paint is not expensive labor is, so you could paint it yourself for cheaper than 1500, even if you had to buy a paint gun, big air compressor, and paint
