what is the difference between a 6 bolt non turbo block and a 6 bolt turbo block?

yeah i heard something about the oil squirters but i wasnt sure if you could put turbo squirters in there

The oil squirters are the diff. The reason they are there is to cool the underside of the pistons. The N/A blocks have a place for them but it is blocked off. Plenty of people have done without them and had no ill effects.

I have also heard that, and seen numerous times where people swap a turbo 6 bolt to a N/A six bolt. Wasnt to sure how it would hold up, so i wasnt going to be a guinea pig. LOL

most of the people doit for oil pressure reasons, most racers plug the squierters for ensure constant oil pressure in the componets. But for street use i sugest you run with oil squirters for keep the temperature in the piston down.

The blocks are the exact same except the N/a doesn't have oil squirters.

If you're going to be running on stock internals, then youll be needing the squirters. Now if you install aftermarket pistons and rods, then you dont have to worry about it. There are several threads about this if you do a search. :thumb:

using a n/t 6 bolt block is the same as a turbo 6 bolt, no squirters, i built a n/t block with turbo 1g rods, and top line turbo pistons, turbo head cams etc... it held up under 25 psi boost and ran so good that i just got done building another one.... block is identical, just change the rods, pistons, use turbo cams in the head, and you have a turbo 6 bolt, no squirters

As long as the bottom end is a 6-bolt 4g63 NT those should be the only differences. The NT 6-bolt's rods are the 1g big rods also. So technically yea you could... but I thought the engine in the Elantra was the 4G61 which is a 1.6L?? Correct me if I'm wrong... Same thing that's in the dodge Colt turbo

Well im not EXACTLY sure myself. I do know that it looks IDENTICAL to my motor. Everything looks exactly the same. I think there are certain year models that have that 1.6 and certain years that have the 4g63. I took my valve cover, timing cover, and dip stick out of one.

4g63 n/t and 4g63 turbo bottom end and block are the same.. crank is the same.. in order to turbo a n/t 6 bolt block you have to change the rods, and pistons...
