Depend on your budget, but look for local shops first id say. Sometimes, they do a very good custum job. A local shop did my friend's exaust cat-back in stainless steel 2"1/2 and the final result was really nice. Its cheaper and installed.

I used to suggest local shops above any pre-made exhaust, but Apex'i N1's can be had so cheap these days it may not be worth it to "re-invent the wheel" so to speak. Installation takes all of thirty minutes. Look in the classifieds here, on 2GNT.com and on eBay and I'm sure you can find a great used exhaust for as little as $250. I doubt very many shops would fabricate a quality exhaust for less than that.

Lots of guys go with the Tsudo N1 Apexi knock off and like it. I actually bought it and am in the process of installing it...

Make sure you have some good way to drill out or somehow remove the studs coming out of your cat, most likely you won't be able to turn them off and I have spent the last 3 days driving around with no cat back. It sounds good but you need to wear ear plugs if you drive for more then ~15 mins.

If I ever get this thing finished and installed I will let you know. The cat back can be had for 240 shipped via ebay, but if you email the sender you might even be able to get it cheaper maybe 200 or 220. I got mine and a header shipped for 320 which was 80 off of what the seller was asking.

If you buy a megan exhaust make sure the dealer has it in stock before you buy it. Because I hear it takes megan forever to ship. I have a PIT catback I got off eBay brand new for $135.

Finished my catback and header. Both are Tsudo and I must say I am impressed. Fitment is good, it sounds nice and low(no ricey high pitch crap), not very loud but at higher rpms opens up a little and sounds great. The header gave a noticeably power increase(according to ass dyno). The car feels like it wants to get up and go more then it did before. It was a lot of work but worth it. I would take a sound clip for people but I don't have anything that will record sound reasonably.

Tsudo N1 off ebay here. I had no complaints (except for having to buy bolts to mount it)

The question here is not what kind of exhaust you should get but really what is the right size piping you will need for the type of project car you want. First you need to decide if you are going to go turbo or not. If so then you probably are going to want to reach for 2.5 to 3" piping if you decide to stick with a NT car then you probably want 2 to 2.5" piping.

The first thing you need to do above all is really decide what you want to do with the car though because if you don't your going to end up buying and replacing parts later on when you really could have prepared now and saved alot of time and or money.

But just for the sake of the question I would recommend using the megan racing exhaust you found. They provide good quality and its easy to get on there.

hope this helps and remember plan out your project it will help ALOT!

Just don't forget about diameter of the piping and back pressure since it is very needed for N/T.

Back pressure is not needed for N/T's please read up on things before giving advice. What you are talking about is SCAVENGING. Read this thread it will explain everything on back pressure scavenging and overall exhaust release.

The new members will learn in time. But good heads up on the backpressure arguement, I hate having to explain this all the time, "mods hook him up with rep points"

To the Original Poster:

I'm running the P.I.T. Catback exhaust (full 3" for turbo applications)
But I love the sound of this one. Its not like everything you here, but you can tell its different.

Just look for some sound clips on any exhaust before you buy. youtube and the 420a video section is a good place to start. (i've got a couple in there)

man id definately go with APEXI. expensive but rly worth it

I got a full 3" ATR and sounds nothing Like Rice. If I could find this brand again for when my Eclipse gets done It's the only thing I would use.
