Anyone have any experience with the billet compressor wheel on a GT3582R. Looking to get a turbo in this class size and wondering if the billet wheel is worth the extra money or just another option. Anyone have any input. Car is a 2.3 with supporting mods and goal is 550 AWHP on pump with meth. Thanks in advance

I believe the wheel you are talking about is the FP HTA wheel and Yes, On the 35R it has made significant dyno improvements over the powerband vs the original 35R wheel.. From what most people say the HTA wheel spools faster as well too... Search HTA 35R for more info unless more people chime in that are actually running that wheel.. I ran an Old 35r the last few years and was very impressed so this new wheel I hear is even better...

Yup I has one, have some turbo porn...

550AWDhp on meth + pump is definately attainable with this turbo. At 20psi I was logging 51lbs/min of airflow, and running 11.6 on 93 oct and 3400 lbs. I was trapping 125mph at 27 psi and C16 at 3150lbs, logging 58lbs/min.

Regular 35R

FP has already proven their 35R to produce more power and spool faster than the new billet turbo from PTE.

3582HTA vs 6265 Dyno Comparo - evolutionm.net
As was mentioned in that particular thread, it would be better to test the new PTE Billet 6262 vs. the FP HTA35R. Though, no one has done the actual side-by-side comparison of those yet. I'm really hoping that the PTE 6262 performs better than the 6265, because the actual price difference between the PTE 6262 and the HTA35R is quite a bit.

OR you could buy a new Airwerks (Borg Warner) turbo since they were the first one's to use the billet compressor wheels and are $200-300 less than the Garrett's with better spool up. ;)

Awesome pics of the HTA boosted98gsx. Is that a FP?

Has anyone had any experience or heard anything about this Airwerks yet or who is selling them?

Thank you all for all the replies so far. You never let me down when i need help.

Precisions will sell for less, probably have better availability and a1yr. warranty. Not knocking FP at all, just supplying another option for the sake of argument.

You get what you pay for.... fp's quality is questionable to none other.

FP has a warranty for a year on manufacturer defects, not user negligence (ie oil starvation, excessive oil pressure, hot shut down, ingestion of foreign objects, etc)

Forced Performance Turbochargers

FP's HTA turbos are no longer on backorder, and they were on backorder because EVERYONE knew what to expect from these turbochargers when they came out and jumped all over them.

I would personally never own one of PTE's garrett knock-off turbochargers.

Is your turbo flanged dsm, t3 or t4? Also, your setup is very similar to mine, what do you hit full boost at and what is full boost on your setup. Pump or race gas. Thanks

It's a t3 .82 a/r turbine housing "4-bolt discharge" instead with a v-band outlet. I'm on a 2.3L and I'll hit 20psi by 4200 on 93 octane. I haven't checked what it does with 28psi / c16.

Are you talking about regular S200-300 series turbos that's been selling for the last year and a half or so or some latest stuff? I 've read quite a bit on these turbos but never heard that they have a billet wheel in 'em. Marti, if you know please chime in as well. Thanks.

Yes there new series turbo's are available locally here from a very well known vendor. It's currently at a 4-6 week wait. Airwerks will be displaying them at SEMA this year and then will be available to most other vendors and the public in early 2009. Reason being the owner of the particular performance shop worked with them in the design/idea of the new wheels/bushing design. Best part being they are twin journal bushing designs and twin scroll T4 housings so price wise they are going to be very reasonable, I.E. mine was under $1,000 and there spool is faster than an equal BB Garrett counterpart.

You 're talking about AGP? There isn't much on their site yet though. If you know what is available right now, could you let me know. If you want to PM me, that 'd be cool too. I was basically getting ready to get a S362 in a .70 undivided t3 in the months to come. T4 options from BW itself weren't that great, at least for a 2.0l from what I saw. Did they release new A/Rs for T4 by any chance? If there are some good sizes available, I 'd reconsider my route to a fully divided t4 set up. I could always call but if you know something I 'll be happy to hear it. Thanks.

Thanks, I 'll check that - I completely forgot about Full-Race, though it does look like AGP is partnering with BW as well from what I saw on their site.

I don't doubt FP at all as I will most likely run fp3x's in my tsi but turbo wise you can't buy a new turbo without atleast checking out holset stuff. I got my holset for a ridculous price shipped to me and it has a billet wheel and is teh size or a gt42r. I got mine from the same suplier as b00stedtalon2. I won't post up the price but lets just say it was less than a garret and even PTE by A LOT!

I don't want to take it even further off topic.. I would probably get a six bladed HX40 for a decent price but those seem hard to come by although I haven't tried very hard to locate one, just judging by other's comments. I do like Holsets and have read quite a few pages from that megathread.

He just loves his FPs, and nothing else, so let him stay in his own world if he wishes.
