I know all of you remember getting your DSM....

But what in specific do you remember about that time where it takes you back to that moment? I remember driving around bone stock back in July of 2006, cruisin to Gnarles Barkley "Crazy"....at the time it was a big hit on the radio. Everytime I hear that song, I think of when I first got my car and how long it's come.

What about you guys?

I think back to my first DSM every time I hear about someone talking about porting the stock turbo..HAHAHA

The smell of "After Storm" Yankee Candles. The sense of smell is the sense closest related with memory. I had a After Storm car freshener on the mirror and one hanging on the hatch strut in the trunk. Sadly enough, the after Storm car freshener was discontinued.

Every time I get on I-40 it reminds me of going to get my DSM, and the agonizing 2 hours following if home while my dad drove it back home for me(couldn't drive a MT). Also every time i hit I-40 I have the urge to go kick the former owner in the balls for treating the talon like crap.

Driving by the house were I bought it from and the smell of anti-freeze, I kinda miss that car 213k driven every winter and no strut tower rust, I miss doughnuts in it after the first snow fall.

Every time I jack up a car I think of my first dsm. Which also happened to be my first car too. I wish I was joking haha.

When my friend moved to the lake, and I had my GST I would drive to the lake great times. Now since I go there in the GSX I remember going there for the first time in my GST RIP.

Everytime my grandma is mentioned, it reminds me of my talon. I found my talon in the local classifieds that i was looking at while waiting around to start her visitation. This might be cheesy, but I feel it was kinda a gift from her. She was the grandma that I wasnt really close to at all. She didnt really pay much attention to my sisters and I.

I'm always reminded of my first and current DSM. I spot all the places in NJ where I've broken down. If it happens to be with my first talon, it makes me smile :)

Constantly getting these damn faces from my ex gf reminds me of my first talon too haha

^^LOL i know what you mean with the ex gf thing. My ex always wished DSM's were never invented. Oh well.

I think of my first dsm everytime i smell the airfreshener called ocean breeze. The previous owner of it had in there and it smelled like crap. I also questioned if he was straight or not.

Summer rides with the windows down really takes me back..... breaking benjamin blasting, eating ice cream with a "lady friend" and wondering why in the world i had gotten a n/t always seems to cross my mind. (thank god i got my gst now)

OOOhhhh! Nice topic! I bought my 2g back in March of '02. There are two things that remind me the most. The first, is the perfume the lady wore who I bought it from. It stayed in the car for a few weeks. I don't know what kind it is, but every now-and-again, I will catch the scent from some random women is passing. I've been tempted to ask them what perfume they're wearing is called.

Also, the lady I bought it from used to live pretty local to me, so anytime I drive in the area, on cloudy days, I get the feeling I felt when I was going to see my baby for the first time.

driving up i-94 to go pick up my dsm that was in morton grove,il that was parked in a mobil gas station deserted...needing a tranny. i revived her with a fresh built tranny and thats all she wrote..good times!:dsm:

Oh this is good, I think back many years before I bought the DSM, commercials on the radio. You don't have to pay interest until next year. I was driving my beat up Colt, thinking, dang... It would be so easy. But I really couldn't afford the payments at the time...

Well it was a cold winter and I was walking in the snow to work.
This guy that worked with my wife was saleing his car so I was like hmm.
Anyway he brought the car by the house and I was like that has a nice body style and would be a good car on gas, and would be better then me walking in the freezing snow. So my brother inlaw helped me get a loan and I got the car.
If it had not been for him I would of been walking in the cold, man I don't know where I would be if he did not help me he gave me a chance and I paid the loan got better credit and all that good stuff.

Now. Yes now.
A dsm is my first car.
So, I guess I should savor the moments of me trying to figure out why my previous owner spliced the radios wires and used electrical tape, figuring out he grounded the radio to itself, and shocking the SHIT out of my fingers.
Good times :D

the best refresher that takes me back.. would have to be lightning storms.... in the 2g (god rest her soul :sosad: ) me and the ole lady would chill in the hatch and watch the storms roll in ... sometimes til we got rained on.. then the fun began.. we'd go drifting on the slick road... she wanted to get her feet wet and try it out... she actually rocked it out better than i could... but yeah gotta love the storms. working on the 1g now ;)

every time i see sun faded paint on a DSM it brings me right back to thinking of my first 99 GSX. when i saw my 99 it was black from Arizona and fadded. Now when i look at my 95 Talon, it reminds me of my 99 every time because it is faded like the 99 was.

I remember driving 6 hours from Chicago to St. Paul, Minesota to pick up my 91 gsx. Shes was my first dsm up until this morning when I bought a clean ass 91 talon shell.

She made the 5 hour trip all the way back with no problems. It fell victim to the dreaded grinding 2nd gear though. I fell in love with her ever since. Not nowing the outcome of the adventure I had and making it back with no issues gave me a new found respect. I've rebuilt pretty much everything and shes been my reliable daily since the summer of 06.

Walking out to my garage everytime and looking at her staring at me brings happiness to my day. Although she may not be the prettiest out there, shes my pride and joy.

I think about getting my dsm when my buddy calls me and starts asking me if its done yet. He's the one who found it for me and flat bedded it for me since it had a cracked block. Ever since it usually runs for half a year then I decide to take it apart and build it up. Just keeping dsm tradition, car must be on jackstands longer then on the road ;)

I remember it was a really warm september day, and me and my sister cruzed up to lewistown to look at 97 GSX auto... Lookin for a DSM was completly on a whim ### it had been a year or so since my GS. I had her watch the exhaust as i left with the salesmen in the gsx for any smoke or anything.. well when i came back i said to her i thought the car was alittle sluggish for a turbo and she wispered to me that it was blowing blue smoke out... needless to say 7,995 was alittle much for a gsx that had a blow turbo and was repo'd with no tranny. So on the way home i called one of my buddys and he said he knew of a "dirty ass dsm sitting on 11/15 south" So he met me at my house and we headed off down 15. The ride seemed to take for ever (###### ### he was barly doing the speed limit) Regardless we finally got there and what sat before me was a really really really dirty 95 talon tsi 5-speed. Needless to say 4 grand later and a good wash and wax i had an immaculent DSM. So when i look up at my visor and see the little angel clipped on my visor that says "drive safe son" (previous owner left it in there) it brings me back to that day.
