if this isnt advanced feel free to move it or delete it, I wasnt sure where to put it.
heres my question, can diesel fuel be used to supress knock. I was goign threw some of my pics and found some from the eaa. there was a booth that had a video of a quad four running 22lbs of boost on diesel fuel with 10:1 compression. my first impression was he was full of it, started looking for a stool to stand on. but I thought about it and diesels run high boost with really high compression. I was just thinking that a mixture of a less flamable or fuel that is more difficult to ignite could help decrease the chance of knock or preignition. the kicker on that moter was that it wasnt set up like a diesel motor it still had spark plugs and the injectors werent in the combustion chamber. it was some research company from arizona

I would go w/ water/alcohol injection before I would put diesel fuel in. I have never heard of diesel fuel being used to supress knock. I would not try it. BTW diesels are designed to knock. When you hear them go raugh, raugh, raugh, that is knock. They do not have spark plugs and they count on high compression and detonation to ignite the fuel.

I have heard that fuel injector cleaner is diesel fuel, but I just don't know. I really can't give any advice because I don't know enough about diesel fuel.

I understand the concept of the diesel engine, thats why that quad four really had me interested. I am not talking about injecting the deisel in to the intake I am wondering about mixing it with the fuel in the tank. we run 2 stroke oil in the gas on our demo cars I havent been brave enough to try it in my car yet. I am just curious of the effects that this could have with knock. the deisel fuel takes more heat to ignite, but I wonder if it burns fast enough or if it would still be flaming threw the turbo?

I did a little reading... Putting diesel in a gasoline enging is not good and will cause damage if too much diesel is put in. If you put diesel fuel in regular unleaded gas it will lower the octane, therefore, increasing knock.

I knew you meant just adding diesel fuel, I should have specified that if you are looking to modify your regular gas I would try other things. What are these demo cars that you are putting 2 stroke oil in and why? If you have oil in your gas you are going to burn blue/white smoke.

we use chevy 350's in the demo cars. we do it to help with the lube we dont worry about smoke, we also have our pistons so there sloppy loose, that way when we loose the radiator we dont destroy the motor. they need to get really warmed up befor they run right though

I am an idiot... When you say demo cars you mean DEMOLITION carsOMG I can't believe it took me that long to figure it out.

Diesel fuel isn't good to put in our motors.

For one, diesel fuel is direct injected, right into the cylinder. That is because it ignites at high pressures, so if you were to inject it pre-intake valve, as the piston came up to compress it, it would pre-detonate, and blow up everything.

The bucket-of-bolts sound you hear from the engine is not it knocking, and diesels aren't designed to knock. As far as I know, knock isn't an issue, because you are injecting the fuel exactly the moment it is supposed to burn, so knock isn't something to worry about. It's burning as soon as it leaves the injector. That's why diesels have to run thousands of pounds of fuel pressure, so that they can overcome the cylinder pressure.

I accidentally put two gallons of diesel in my tank thinking it was 93 in my garage so can i throw in come 103 octane booster plus 93 octane and driver around till i run out of gas to get rid of the diesel???? help??? =\

2 gallons on a 16 gallon tank  i personally would drain it, as stated before diesel reduces octane which increases knock.

ive never looked at mine but i was told the 1G has a drain plug in the tank.... maybe the 2Gs do too? that or remove your back seat, remove the cover and pump and suck it out that way :thumb:

Diesels only benefit to a gas engine is to mix it at about 1 gallon per 10 or more of pump gas to let it clean your fuel system

Diesel guys use regular pump gas for this samw reason in teh same mix ratio... other than that i cna't see any gains from it in your car. Remember, diesels run on detonation, they don't have spark plugs because they just get teh fuel warm, then the heat and pressure from the 10:1 and higher CR's causes the fuel to pre-ignite (but at the right time for them) That's why they always sound like they are knockin a rod at the redlight :D

Wouldn't it be easier to pull a return line from the FPR, put a few fit of hose on it and drain it into a can while the car is running. I doubt it would cause it to knock at idle.
