So I just got my car back from the dealership last week. They did the transfer case recall for me. I barely got 10 miles on it and it locked up on the highway. It was stuck for about 2 seconds it seemed like. Then broke free and I was able to pull it off the road.
There were also some interesting things that happened right before "the incident". Right as I was getting on the highway my cel went on. Its a code p0170 (fuel trim malfunction bank 1) and a p0125 (closed loop fuel ctrl insufficient coolant temp) It was at least 6 months since my last cel. Evap something, but I fixed that a long time ago. Since this, found I have a bad o2 sensor because its chilling at 0.0 volts. So that explains the first code... And maybe the second according to some other posts.
The next cool thing thats going on is a nice smell of oil (I'm pretty sure its gear oil) It mostly happens when I come to a stop, but not always. There was actually smoke coming from under the car when I was driving back to the dealer. I dont know what to think.
Here are my main questions. I drove it back to the dealer and they put 60+ miles on it with no incident. Told me it was fine and sent me home. I still get that smell just no smoke... Should I trust them? And drive my car?
They next told me that those codes were from a lack of backpressure because of my aftermarket muffler (no real exhaust yet) I think this is funny, since I've had it since the day after I bought the car with no cel. Im going to replace my o2 sensor and see, but what do you think?
Thanks!
