John, even though the car won't be there, will you be present at the Shootout to cheer on some of your fellow racers, maybe give some of us slower guys (umm.. me) a few tips in the staging lanes? :)

Well, it has become very apparent that the car will not be in rolling chassis form for the shootout and will not be there.

Phil and I talked today and neither of us will accept anything but perfection on the car and to try to rush it at this point after waiting so long would defeat the purpose. Again I apologize and thank everyone for not forgetting about the car..it has been an extremely long road but it will be worth it.

I think the dsm community will agree that you're doing the best thing in the long run! :rocks: Will you be taking on the evo stock appearing class again? Or did the evo see some new upgrades :thumb:

Hope to see your car at the shootout Shep. Many dont know the history of your car(you bought it from dave) its a icon for the cult hope to see it for years to come.

Glad to see your finally getting the car back together John. When are you expecting to see track time with it, and what times are you shooting for? Also, can you give us any top secret tid-bits of info on the setup you'll be running?

No real updates on the car since last but I did knock the dust off of the evo and run it at the dsm/evo shootout.

The evo is a very low mileage 03 (6000 miles)

FP hta 35 .82
Shearer header kit
Fox lake ported head with ferrea valvetrain
Fp old school cams 264/265
Br 2.3 je/crower
Br intercooler and upper pipe
Br in tank double pumper
1600cc inj
AEM
Ultimate racing turbo back exhaust

stock untouched intake and t.body
stock fuel lines/rail/regulator

Drivetrain etc

Our Ultimate ratio trans with 4.11
billet output shaft
stage 3 t.case w quaife
Tilton carbon/carbon
Dss rear axle kit
Our rear diff replate (locks much harder)
megan coilovers
225/45-17 bfg's on stock wheels
rear trailing arm bushings
rre swaybar (not sure what brand)

I am running e-85 fuel and the car on the 6 th pass on the new setup and only the 3rd pass on the tilton clutch ran a 9.96@142 !! The car looks absolutely bone stock and I drove it to and from the track. It is a full weight car with just spare etc removed. needless to say I am very happy and cant wait to see what a few more mods will do like and intake manifold and throttle body.

Nice! :thumb:

I think the thing that Wow'd me the most and made me wonder was that you are running the Megan Coilovers on the EVO. It's nice to know that the big dogs like to save money and try out some of Megan's products also. I don't want to turn this into a review thread. But, how do they compare to others you have used?

I saw shep walking around at the Buschur dyno day. It felt like being in the presence of a celebrity, I didn't walk over to him because I wanted to respect his space. :D

Good luck with your car or tube chassis:) glad to hear your making headway this past season must be killing you not racing

The last I checked on the DSM Phil was hand buffing the cage and had the roof cut off to be able to paint the cage better :D I know it is all e-coated, blocked and primed so I dont expect much longer but I have not been putting any pressure on him. He has a business to run as well and this is just a when he has time thing.

The evo has been upgraded to the larger hta35 and I am bumping up the compression and getting some more fuel in it so I can run higher boost. I hope to see the car run 9.5 in full true street trim on radials. I am not aiming to have the fastest street evo mainly becuase I want a fun car not a dedicated car that runs good et's but is a pig to drive.

the talon sounds like its gonna be beautiful and sounds like the evo is def going to be a fun streetcar with the potential that turbo has and with the bumped up compression the off boost driving shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I'm betting that's what you were thinking with the Talon too at one point long ago John... :) Can't wait to see pics of both cars when you get a chance to post them here.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what would be the point of painting the cage? That's just more weight you don't need.

haha speaking of that i heard a while back that john force's cars were all white because that was the lightest color weight wise. Don't know if there is any truth to that though.
