Exactly what it says. I twisted my drive shaft at WOT in 5th gear. The thing looks like a straw that twisted then broke, taking out my carrier bearing which I dont know how I'm going to fix. I will get pics up soon.

Anyone else twist a drive shaft not on a launch but under hard load in a high gear?

God Dammit. I just got a 1500 check from the bank for my school loan and now i read this. ###K. I dont want to buy a goddamned drive axle since i know they can twist. There goes money for a DSS driven axle. Post pictures please.

Yeah you aren't going to twist a driveshaft on any car outside of 1st or 2nd gear. Sounds like a carrier bearing seized up and this was the result.

it would definatly rip the carrier out of the car before twisting the drive shaft. Have you ever seen the carrier mounts....tiny.

are you sure your t-case didnt lock up and take the shaft out ?

Unless your car makes 1000ft lb of torque your not gonna twist a driveshaft in 5th. Def like these other guys are saying something locked up. Interested in seeing the pics.

Aren't you the one with the super custom two peice drive shaft that no one can figure out how it got in there?? That might be why the DS did that??

Yes this is a custom 2 piece shaft which makes me believe it was weak. Nothing is seized up at all. The front tires and rear tires all move freely. I didn't hear any vibrations or anything so I don't think it was unbalanced. It could have been a seized carrier bearing, I didnt check that. I will post pics ASAP, the car is not at my house because I dont have a garage. Also I wouldnt lie about what happened.

Don't think you are lying just WTF of how this could of happened.

Since I am not up to speed on your driveshaft, why do you have a custom 2 piece driveshaft? Am I lost here in wondering what would be wrong with a oem one?

As sugested above, the next time you are close to that driveshaft try spining the carrier bearing. I bet it locked up and screwed your "B.A. super mad tight custom two peice driveshaft"

BTW, do you know if it did do any damage to anything else? when driveshafts go they have a habit of doing considerable amounts of damage to everything in it's path.

The car did get some damage to the bottom but I hope everything is ok. Im also now guessing its the carrier bearing. Ive had this driveshaft for over 8 years in my two dsm's. Sucks it finally went.

Wow well I would say you def got your money worth. (even though you didn't pay for it)

There is no way in hell a siezed carrier bearing is going to twist a driveshaft. I just redid the entire drivetrain in my car doing the AWD conversion and the carrier bearings are held up by almost nothing. I'd agree with the above statement that your transfer case locked up. That will explain all the tires still spinning freely, yet create enough force to twist a driveshaft. You should have felt a rather violent jerk tho.

Well the carrier bearing is seized up pretty bad, and I agree I dont think that could have broken the shaft. So if the T-Case is seized would the front wheels still spin freely?

I took pics and left the camera at the garage. The internet was down there so I couldnt upload them. Ive been at work the last few days, but I will post them on Monday. I loved my 2 piece shaft. All the guys at Jacktransmissions where jealous and wanted me to give it to them.
