I guess im the closest to being finished, haha i just need to fix the gasket and put an alternator in and then tune. Then get some tires for my evo wheels. Im still stuck between the dunlop direzza z1 star spec and the kumho mx. I think im going to try the dunlops, but the sidewall might be too stiff for drag racing.

Irronically, It sounds like Im second closest. Im a flywheel away from having my car running,... HAHAHAHA

Theres a bunch of little things here and there that I still want to go over and redo, retorque, etc,... but if I really wanted to, I could be buying a flywheel right now, throw the tranny back in there, put the new intake manifold on there, start up dsmlink, tune it, and be on the road.

BUT if you include everything I want to do,... thats a totally different story...

I have a new larger power steering cooler which I want to relocate to the oem oil cooler location, then I'll be putting the oil cooler where my power steering cooler was previously located. After that I need to press in my polyurithane control arm bushings, and replace he drivers side wheel bearing. After doing that, I need to remove the axle from the passenger side hub (it came from that parts car laser I bought a while ago,and has a torn cv boot, but it WILL NOT come off. I've broken 2 breaker bars now trying to get it off, it doesn't budge an inch. I'll probably take a cut off disk with my angle grinder too it to cut through the castle nut and get it off that way.) After that, I need to build a firewall for the fuel cell I have, then install/rewire the fuel pump (its currently wired, but the wires just need to be re routed). After thats done, I need to install the new smim, pop the tranny in, throw the radiator in there, connect everything up, finish my new throttle cable (super short edition) and do some boost leak tests, tune her up, and drive the snot out of it. I could use two new tires as well, and the car still needs some body work, but other than that, Im actually somewhat happy with where its currently headed. I've got to smog it by october, so we'll see how that pans out. I also got a new downpipe that needs the wideband o2 sensor bung welded onto it, as well as a new cat back, although I'd consider just having a test pipe which goes from the new pipe to my dejon exhaust, since that would be easiest. Should be a rather sick set up once its all said and done. I actually can't think of a single thing thats really oem anymore.

I just wish I had a built block like all you guys do....

also forgot to mention, the current motor's rear motor mount isn't lining up, and it has an unorthodox racing crank pully, so both of those things will need to be adressed.

There's a gathering planned at Infineon on Wed 27th, next week. There's a thread somewhere at Norcalevo with about ten guys signed up. I plan to go, I just don't know which car I'll bring out yet.

Hey I'm actualy planning on running there on that day with my hommie, he just got a
C16 dyno tune done on his Evo and trying for deep 11's. I'll be shooting for 12's on 100 octane, yesterday i finally took out my A/C compressor. Even the passenger seat is coming out for this one!;)

boost leak, tuning, etc. what boost level are you running it at vs what boost level were you running the t2small?

I found boost leak but fixed most of it. I messed around with the SAFC a little bit adding little more fuel.

On the old T25 I was pushing 12, 13psi and the 16g I just raised up the boost to 16, 17psi, and it pulls the same as the t2small.

During the install, i've also put in rc550cc injectors and an ssac fmic with a 1g bov, and NGK bpr7es gapped to .28

I just thought of a good line.
I wanted to wait until I drove the car before I talk about the build.
Otherwise 'full disclosure' might become 'fool disclosure'
BWAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!

haha.. I see you have some of your usual trickery up your sleve dave!!

Edwin, where are you at with your build? Did you finish your manifold yet? I want pics of that when its done!

Anyways, lets keep this forum alive people! Post updates on your setups everyone!

We decided to go a diff route with the manifold, so it is being totally redesigned. The goal is still to get the car running and racing at BOTI Fontana, we'll see how that goes

Forget street tires, get drag radials!

*crickets* :p

I think some of the guys from the shop might be out that wed as well, so you'll have fellow DSMers and EVO guys to hang out with... I think Sean might even go.

On evo 8 enkei's?!?!
I like the rims you have on your car, those are sexy! (rpf1 or something like that right?)

*crickets* :p
BIG +1 on that!!! haha

Mine is up and running, I want to go to Infineon but I'm skurd to launch the car on a 2 spider center diff.
Ah just launch it!!! its only your spare trans right?
+ edwin has like 7 spare trannies to sell!

No, I don't have EVO8 wheels. I want to throw some MT Drag Radials in 255/50/16 on my Kosei K1 that I have. But I also want Bias Plys...decisions decisions

I only have 1 transmission left to sell...sold off 2 this past weekend!

You said forget steet tires, get drag radials, and i said, i have evo 8 enkeis! i dont think they make em that size.

Didnt you have some enkei rpf 1's or something before? I saw you suggest them in the dsmlink forums and they are good looking rims.

To run a drag radial thats worth it id have to run 15 or 16" rims right?
Maybe i'll get some good d/d tires on my evo rims, then put some drag radials on my stock rims, or pick up some light rims to run the dr's...

They make the Nitto 555R in a 245/45/17. I could friends have them on their evos and have been pretty successful so far. But yes, ideally you would want them on a smaller wheel

i have just started really using this site now since i got my laptop and i was reding that you guys might be meeting up soon and i wanted to knopw where so i can go to

Keep checking the Norcal forum, if there are any meets planned it'll show up there. I plan on going to Infineon Raceway next Wednesday the 27th. A few Norcal Evo guys will be there, too. Gates open at 3 PM, racing goes until around 9 or 10. You don't have to race. Sometimes I'll show up late and just hang out for a couple hours.

WOW, just wow is all i can say! haha

SO, i got motivated to work on my car, i pull the ext wastegate to get to the alternator, pull out the alternator. Then my girlfirend comes out and asks what im doing. So i explain that this gasket between the turbo and the manifold blew and overheated the alternator and killed it.

Right when i go to show her the gasket, i touch a little edge that is sticking out, and i was able to rotate it all the way out. WTF I was thinking, how is the gasket intact (on 3 sides), but rotated out on 1 bolt, so i look around the manifold, and thats it.... OMG there is only 1 freaking bolt holding my turbo to the manifold!!! haha, WTF?!?!?

I guess that explains the rich conditions, the semi-slow spool up (i was wondering why it was getting full spool at like 4600rpm) and why the gasket blew in one spot!

haha, anyways, anybody know where to get a t3 gasket locally? If so, i can have my car back together in like an hour, but if not, i'll have to order one express delivery if i want to try to make it to wed night drags on wednesday!

Now im thinking, should i anti-seize the bolts or f'n locktite em so they stay in?

I have to defend myself on how i didnt notice 3 bolts missing. They bolt up through the turbo into the mainfold, so i cant really see em that great unless im looking under the turbo flange, or down into the bolt hole! haha

I went to the hardware store to get the bolts. Grade 8 should work right?

RRE should have T3 gaskets in stock.

I started my car a couple days ago. It runs, it stalls, nothing leaks. Good 'nuf!

yeah stalls,
no rotating mass:)
I fixed it by tweaking the ISC code a little. It's weird, now if I push in the clutch while the car is moving and let the revs drop, it goes to 1500rpm, then when I stop it settles down to 900.
