I was in a bad fender-bender today :sosad::(:barf::cry:and I am now in search of a new hood for my 99 GST. As much as I liked the stock one I was thinking about a aftermarket one from bodykits.com. The SC2 hood made out of fiberglass. Heres a link to it.Mitsubishi Eclipse 95-99 3-DR SC2 Hood | FIBERGLASS :: Mitsubishi Eclipse 95 - 99 :: Mitsubishi Eclipse Hoods :: Mitsubishi Hoods :: Japanese Hoods :: Hoods :: Bodykits.com - Car Body kits and Ground Effects - 1-877-7BODY-KITS I know it says its a stock image so I was also wondering if anyone has a pic of it on a 97-99 Eclipse?

I'm pretty sure there is something in the tech section where a member had trouble getting that hood to mount correctly.

Not sure about the fiberglass version, but I purchased the CF version. Horrible fitment, no way was it going to be a decent fit. I tried everything. I would pass on it if I were you.

Where did you get the cf version? Im not putting it on anyway, it's all gonna be done at a body shop, because I need a new front bumper, side markers, intercooler, headlights, and radaitor along with the hood. I would be very gratefull if you could post some pics of it even if it's not installed.
Thanks,

Well, sorry to say I do not have pics because They were shitty cell phone shots. The phone has since been replaced because of it being broken. I purchased the hood from Chaser (aerokits.com). I even took it to a body shop... No go, they laughed at it when trying to fit it to the car. Piss poor. There was another guy that installed it on his 2G N/T... Search Scoote2 hood.. You should be able to find him.

I actually found some photos that the body shop took... I will post them when I get home from work.

Thanks guys, it turned out really good unlike what was said, it fit very well and would have fit even better if it wasn't banged up a little during shipping. My only gripe with it was its not very sturdy, and the vents were not functional. Im glad GSX brought this back up because I wanted to ask about cutting the vents out myself, would rain be a factor? But overall Im very happy with it, the whole hood is raised to accomodate , as where on the stock hood just had a bump, and I like the way it makes it look. (Kinda Muscle car-ish, with a bigger hood so there's room for the engine) I bought the fiberglass version. Overall I give it:thumb::thumb: after it's made to work instead just look cool. On a side note; it came with a hood latch thats worked well so far, I opted out on hood pins because it would have costed me around 100 bucks for the body shop to reinforce the area where the pins will go.(Like I said not very sturdy)Heres some pics: Ill post some more when I get home, cars a little dirty, please ignore it:shhh: Oh and the spot on the right side where it looks like its smashed in, is just glare.

Wow man that does look good.. Although, for the money spend I would have just got a CF hood.. just my .02.. Like I said, it looks great!

It almost looks awkward without the hump on the driverside.. (WTF)

Here's a few more pics for ya'll wondering about the fitment & overall looks. :rocks:

The underside of the hood, it came pre-cut for the windsheild washer squirter thingies and the lines!

Thanks! You can see my gripe with it not being functional. What do yall think: Would I have a problem with rain or washing it if I cut the vents out my-self on the underside so heat can escape? (That's the whole reason I picked this hood, and man, was I mad when I found out the vents weren't functional.)

I think you should be able to remove the plastic portions covering the vents from the underside based on what I see in the pictures. Also, I believe user slippi84 explained in one of his posts this could be done. Go give it a try!!

I would, but we put a bonding agent inbetween the two peices to help stiffen the middle of the hood, it started to warp after we took it off, when we put it back on it was fine. So I shouldn't have any problems with rain then?

As I'm really interested in this hood, I'll hog the forum and continue this discussion. With regard to rain, I think you should judge for yourself where the vents would actually sit with the relation to the engine. If the vents sit over the coil pack, any electronics, then I would leave them closed ... mind you you could open up the most forward, or most rear vents to give it the functionality as well.

Anyhow, thanks for providing more feedback on this hood. I think you might have answered a lot of DSM'ers questions and certainly mine!

That one fit FAR better then mine. Looks great and makes me jelous! Sorry my pics were sooo small. Mine, even with both fenders adjusted all the way in... I had about 1/2 gap all the way around and the corners near the headlights were to short by that much too.
It seems like the one picturerd keeps the height the same as a stocker, min was raised in the middle far more then the stock hood. What I was looking to get was a stock carbo hoos in allaspects but witrh the awesome looking vents!
