well its been almost 3 weeks since i swapped trannys and got it running. went to get some smokes today and in the 2 block trip either little hose between the turbo and alternator, the head or god knows what else blew and started spewing coolant everywhere. this really never ends does it?

so far:

tranny and clutch
entire subframe assembly
all 4 mounts twice, second time with prothanes
thought i had all the hoses changed, missed the one i think is leaking.
several sensors
struts and springs
inner and outer tie rods
lower ball joints
radiator fan

and this is all since last september
i know theres more too

I dont thin it will ever end either. I have only had my DSM for like 2 months and its been one thing after the other.

coming up on 18 in a month, and i know thats why it has the problems it does, but i dont care its all part of owning one of the baddest cars there are :thumb: i also know how i drive my car so i dont get too upset when something breaks. but tomorrow night there is what they call the ice cream cruise around the city i live, hundreds of cars meet up at sonic then after a while go for an hour long cruise around town together and i had been looking forward to it for months and now im pretty sure im not gonna be able to go.

like i told someone who was under the impression i loved hondas because a statement i made defending them, i by far dont worship hondas that would take time away from fixing my DSM. i had alot of laughs but all the DSMers knew what i meant.

like the lady from speeders said when pulled over and asked why she was doing 98 in a 55, "cause no one was in front of me" :thumb:

Well if its the turbo coolant lines its an easy and cheap fix, only costed me $1.50 to fix it when they broke on me and I did it with a multitool on the side of the road. The only coolant lines that actully take time to fix is to the heater core so you can still make it to the gathering.

it goes from the metal pipe that runs along the front of the block down to the oil filter housing. just went and looked at it but its still kinda warm outside to be messing with it.

That's why until i finish my 6 AN conversion i won't run turbo coolant lines. I've had this strand me about 6 times in 10 years from using rubber lines. I took them off a couple years ago and looped them together , they don't leak Now :D

Hey if you want, go to total performance (or take me with you) and we can get the parts to make yours a SS braided turbo coolant feed and this will NEVER happen again ( i did my friend craigs car and now can't wait to finish mine).

Since your taking the intake mani off anyway it would be a perfect time to do it.. You just need a steel 6AN for the water tube(available in powersteering section of TP), one aluminum one for the t-stat housing..a few feet of -6 hose and then two pipe thread to -6 adapters and 4 ends for the hoses, probably be built for under 50 bucks, you can do it here at my house if you want and we'll work out something with maybe some beer/money or something

I can even bring the TIG down there and do it if you don't want to get the car hot or move it.. let me know. I got nothing else going on tonight or in the AM except promoting my business at the track and the cruise tomorrow night. I'm going to do mine too, maybe we can just do em both right there *shrugs*

it isnt one of the lines from the turbo, its from the oil filter housing to the pipe coming out of the water pump, but i see what your talking about glenn. will have to do that too.

Ahh.. I know what line you're talking about now... What year motor or OFH are you running? I did away with that type of setup and went to an external cooler, it was easy to do and if you get your core in the right place, it's down right cheap to do as well!

Junkyard caravan/dodge truck cooler, + 5/16 compression fittings and a few taps and braided lines later and you have an external :D I think mine ran me about 50-60 bucks to build complete with braided SS lines , AN fittings at the OFH and some compression to -6 flare adapters i got from Kriha Fluid power ion 90th and L

its a 6 bolt block, which i wasnt sure of til i did the tranny. as for the OFH i believe it to be a 90, car was built in september of 90. i was always told this was the better OFH
