(LOL...give it a bath, shine it up and take some more snaps on your 318ci - we'd like to see more of this hacked DSM...)

It's parked in my shop now, and been off the road since I registered my 51 buick 3 years ago. But here are some more photos.

I have some more but those are the ones currently on the web. I can take more specific ones tommorrow at work if there's a particular part of the car you want to see.

Here's the Buick I took it off the road for.

Nice RIDES:thumb: especially that lifted 1g, that looks like lots of fun. How did you "hack" that thing together? :D

Thanks. Simply put, I put the Laser on the 89 Ramcharger chassis.

It has rubber body mounts just like any other full frame truck. I had to put an extension on the steering column, and put a second radiator alongside the transfer case. And lots of wiring. The build took a week, and the wiring took another. Alll in all I was suprised how smoothly it went, I just kept getting lucky. It has the OEM TBI on it and everything on the dash looks and works like original. The only thing to tip you off while sitting inside is the 4x4 shifter and the 4x4 indicator lamp that were retained from the truck. It's a little picture of axles and transfer case that lights up. I mounted it in the knee bolster.

I call it my Plymouth Trailaser. Get it?

I suppose you plan on using solid fuel and rocket boosters. Remember, there's no air in space. Seal your car right.

Some dude just posted pics of his 4x4 laser; it's in the Noob forum I believe.

Is it a 4G63T powerplant? Do you have any pics of the underside of the Trailaser?:thumb:

I have had nothing but turbo engines (3) and I've never seen the block casting say 4g63T on it.

No it's got a V8! 5.2L throttle body injected. Comes stock in an 89 Ramcharger. I have some more pics I took yesterday. I'll upload and edit this when I'm done.

look at the pistons, factory turbo will say 4g63dt, and have a fairly deep dish, Non turbo ones will say 4g63d and have a shallower dish.

The pistons do not say 4g63.... Turbo pistons use the letters D and T.

The squirters are the dead give away. And a knock sensor.

The pistons in the block I got say 63DT

The block has the # 4G63 and on the next line LA1375 whatever that means. I still haven't pulled the pan so I haven't ever seen squirters. Judjing by what everyone has said, and unless someone just swapped out the block with a N/A one, it's probably the block it's supposed to be.

Ps. I was mistaken earlier. It's stamped into the id plate spot on the block, not cast on it.

Just an update on this thread: My 4G63T runs awesomely :D ! I built it with BC 272 cams and valve springs, new lifters, a gates racing timing belt, BSE kit, Cometic MLS head gasket, ARP head studs and rod bolts, CP 9:1 pistons, Eagle H chromoly rods, 7"x2.5"x28" FMIC, 2.5" aluminum IC pipe, ebay BOV (resealed 3 times), K&N filter, DSMLink, FIC 650 injectors, mallory AFPR, EVOIII big 16g ported by FP, Hallman pro MBC, AEM wideband UEGO, Walbro 255HP pump, 3/8" steel fuel line to and from the inside of the tank, ported O2 housing, and custom throttle body elbow.

I started the break in process with a KM206 transmission with a Phantom grip, and have 1500 miles on it so far. The tune was coming along well, until my new N/A 2.0 eclipse clutch started to slip pretty badly. I picked up a $415 ACT XT pressure plate and sprung 6 puck combo, but never installed it.

I came across a 91 TSi parts car from a member here, and decided to build the W5M33 instead. I sold my new clutch, and my posi KM206 to a friend who needed it more than I.

Today I'm just about finished with the AWD transmission. I installed all new bearings in it, another posi insert (this time with the heavier green springs), and a TRE spool so I can run it FWD. I picked up an XACT Streetlite AWD flywheel, and a clutchmasters sprung six puck and pressure plate. That should hold the torque better.

As for my idea about the first AWD Colt hatch? ROFL

I've done a bunch of reading on 4G61T.org... It turns out that's a very common conversion, in fact I could probably find one or two for sale at any given time.

Also, the Colt Cyborg (not marketed in the US) came with a 1.6 turbo, and AWD via a solid rear axle (that looks like a little Ford 9") held in by a five link rear suspension. (four trailing arms, and a panhard bar)

I had been wondering if you were on 61t or not, then I recognized the car. :thumb:
