My friend is upgrading the cams on his evo VIII so he'll be getting rid of the stockers. Would the stock evo cams be a good upgrade for my car (97 gsx)?

I wouldn't try it, one of the cams is designed to work with variable timing. You might not be able to bolt one of those cams into your car, but the other would probably fit.QUOTE]
That only the 9's The 8 does not have that..
I thought the cam lobs are the same but the pins are located in different areas.. I personally would just look for a used set of FP cams.. They are so cheap and are proven to make good power; you can't go wrong.. I don't understand why anyone would waste there time trying to putting Evo cams in. Free or not, you may pick up A horsepower or loose some for all that work??
Not worth it in my opinion.
Have you tried it? The cams don't know that they are mirroed. It may work, no one has yet to try it. Try it and the right up a tech article if they do. Simple as that. The engine is mirrored dude... you should have asked me first.
Since the engine is mirrored, they will not work. They're right though. Might as well get some BC cams, they're effin CHEAP.

The CAS is on the wrong side.
Its ok man, send me your 2g maf anyway. You'll feel better about yourself.
It's on the exhaust cam on an evo isn't it..
You know you can use an EVO MAF too.
While I see alot of arguing whether or not they would work, I have seen NONE that actually say they tried it or even some sort of bench test. Now, I'm not saying they will work, but I'm not writing it off either.
I have a spare head if anyone knows where I can get some free EVO8 cams, I will put them on the car and do some tests.
does the CAS line up the same? Cam gears? That is cool
