Quick update for those that remember I still have a race car:thumb:

The car is offically at the body shop and the last I seen it was upside down and headed for the sand blasters to get it prepped and ready for zinc coating. I should have something to at least roll out of the trailer at the shootout. I have lost hope of actually being able to have it running by then but it should look like a car again which will give me the much needed motivation to torture myself again :D

I want to thank Phil for basically dropping everything to work on it non stop for a few weeks. For those of you that do not know him he is a good friend of mine and has the tube car that David had built. He runs a body shop in Columbus.

I'm pretty good with a wrench...need some help :rocks:

Glad to hear we'll at least see it for the shootout. :thumb:

It is great to hear that there is progress being made.

I'm hoping to make it out to shootout this year to meet you in person Shep!

I have yet to make it to a DSM shootout in the 4 years I have been balls deep into DSMs!
Coming from WA, its a long drive so I'm resorting to the quicker/easier way, and with that it becomes more expensive, but now where gas prices are it may end up being a wash hahahaha. I need to man up and just get out there to see that damn car in person! I'm sick of drooling over pics and videos.

Keep up the good work john, no need to rush, there are many more seasons to come. Have to do it the right way the first time, so take your time, get her done, and however long it takes, is however long it takes. Also, people need to realize you have a shop to run, money to make, and a family to take care of and attend to. It can be exhausting at times, so we all understand!

We still very much appreciate your hard work Shep! Good luck with the car!

The cage is a 25.1 spec certified to 6.50. think of it as a pro stock chassis. The hard part is making it look like a car again.

The turbo will be a gt47 or a hybrid version of it.

So I guess we will not see the ohio licens:cool:e plate anymore ,for the car will no longer be street legal right? I think if you put the sevens license plate on ebay it will go for a pretty penny!

I love John Shepherd as much as the next guy, but what about brent rau? He is in the 6's with a 4g63t 2g....doesn't anyone care about that? Thats pretty damn impresive if you ask me!

:talon:

Sure brent rau is a good driver, Sure he has maybe the fastest DSM on earth. I know he runs RWD. But from what i know about him he is sponser by Exotic Performance Plus: High Performance Auto Parts and Services and that place only works on V-8's Now Shep on the other hand has been in the DSM game for many many years. He has fought for and won our respect and gratitude. He has ALOT to offer to the DSM world, Not to mention the world class trannys and other products he sells us. Thank being said, I want to see more of this Brent rau. I just saw the you-tube vid and it was pretty impressive.

^touche

Their cars are like in different classes though. Sheps was still street legal for a while, while Rau's is a removable bodied drag car.

idk WTF I'm talking about LOLlz

Wow a Shootout without Shep racing is like going to a game and your favorite player isnt playing

No one is taking anything away from Rau. He runs a RWD chasis which is something most of us here can not relate to (not like Shep's car is the average DSM either). Most people talk about Shep more because of his success with an AWD platform and the fact that he still uses an H pattern shifter.

Believe me guys I am very disappointed and honestly some of the things that happened (cars getting bumped ahead of me) has led me to lose a lot of respect for the shop that did the work.

As for Brent, he is awesome. Most probably don't know him well and most of the time he is not a people person if you know what I mean. He is one of the most hardcore racers I know and just for that alone he deserves more recognition.

^^AMEN

John, I saw a few pictures of you at the Super Street Shootout in Puerto Rico. You were having a lot of fun. I was there and I couldn't get to see you. Anyways I hope you had fun here in PR and that you may come back soon.

I loved the PR trip and will be going back many times I am sure.

The car will race on PR soil in the future. We just need time to get the car sorted out once done and build our inventory of spare parts back up.

Great, I wish you success and constant low 7 and 6 seconds passes. :thumb: You're very welcome here in PR.

I was thinking about going to the shootout for the first time this yr hopeing to see you run Shep.
Well at any rate, it will still be awesome to even see the car in person and take pics and what not.
There will still be a ton of super fast and highly respectable dsms running out there, and it will be a good turn out.

Shep, your doing it the right way, take your time, and keep the suspense going.
When you run again I am sure you will give the people what they want to see.

7 sec Dsms; what legends are made of. ;)

John I hope you don't mind, but I bet you remember this day:

Many people were glad to see you there.

Well, it has become very apparent that the car will not be in rolling chassis form for the shootout and will not be there.

Phil and I talked today and neither of us will accept anything but perfection on the car and to try to rush it at this point after waiting so long would defeat the purpose. Again I apologize and thank everyone for not forgetting about the car..it has been an extremely long road but it will be worth it.
