Just like the title says, does anyone know the thread size of the feed line fitting on the 2g AWD fuel pump assembly? I'd like to run a braided line from that fitting. Thanks in advance.

sorry to bring this back from the dead
gixrman - do you have pictures of that? you're talking about the bottom of the rubber line...the one you can reach from under the car right?

I used -6AN union to connect to the short peice of rubber line off of the pump. PM me your email and I will send you detailed photos of my install.

ANPlumbing.com has a 14mm female -6AN male fitting that would screw onto the hardline coming out of the fuel pump assembly, part # 9894DBH

Edit oops old thread, but maybe still useful to someone somewhere

Is this helpful?

In the picture, that looks like the RETURN line......... 2G AWD is just a -6an....... that's it, nothing fancy.

The fitting size for the fuel supply line is 14x1.5 a 6an will work but ive heard stories of it leaking and not fitting right. I just got a 14x1.5 female to 6an male to go to my fuel lines and it works great.

I've never heard of it leaking........... Colorado is a pretty big DSM Community and everyone I know here does the same thing. -6an screwed right on to the feed line. I don't if there is a difference in cars models, or what the thread is of -6an.

Can someone else confirm that it is the same 14x1.5 fitting used on the 1gs? I believe the fitting you attach it too is below the rear seat area, not at the fuel tank, but I've only ever worked on one 2g so I'm really not sure.

I'll back you up on your statement. I have a -6AN threaded on. I definitely don't think it is the ideal way or the best way. But I have never had it leak.

You can always cut it off and put a new end on:

That does not leak.

I see what you are saying, but I think this is the way he has it setup. You are seeing the upgraded return line. The upgrade to his feed is just after the fuel pump housing, I think.
Maybe he can correct me if I am wrong, but I think this is how his is setup:

This is where he hooks up to the feedline, just under were the top is. This pic is at the back of his car, beside the fuel tank:

Okay, that is my once a month visit. I hope I helped.
Those hard lines are pimp BTW... How do you bend them and attach the ends (sorry if it is a stupid question).
Thanks!

The above is correct. I used a tubing bender with tube nuts and sleeves for hard lines from Summit. The tubing (aluminum) is from them also and come in a 25ft. coil. And yes the -6 fitting treaded on to the stock fitting with no problems and no leak. The return is a -6 90 degree bulkhead fitting. Thanks for the props!

No. The 1g is not metric. A -6 will thread right on to the elbow comming off the tank, and its not under the seat like the 2g. Its in the hatch area covered by a black access panel. Much easier to work on than the 2g's.

Yes.. the 1g is metric.

Anywho, to confirm for anyone else that is looking at this and wants to do it the absolutely correct way, BOTH the 1g and the 2g use a 14x1.5mm saginaw fitting (NEEDS AN Oring that is fuel safe). The 1g bolts on right off the fuel pump assembly, the 2g is under the seat.

For all of you that use a -6... I hope it doesn't leak, but you're looking at very minimal sealing area and any nick or scratch on the fitting will cause it to leak.

There is no "correct" way. It seems it can be done either way with success.

I'm just curious........... IF -6an ISN'T an exact fit........ what's the thread pattern for a -6. I was just wondering how far off (if any) it is.
I've just never heard of 2 different thread sizes "working" and not leaking......... I know my -6an doesn't leak.

The issue is that it is absolutely not an AN fitting. Look at the fitting and see if it has the 37* flare typical of AN fittings. It doesn't, it uses a double (standard) flare similar to a brake line. Now this flare creates a circle that will slide up against the aluminum AN fitting and seal, however if either the AN fitting has any damage, or the stock fuel pump fitting has any damage, neither will seal. The sealing area is extremely minimal as well.

If you use the "correct" 14mm 1.5x6an fitting, you use a fitting that has a specific reversed cone that seals up and against a larger contact point on the fitting. The o-ring is in there to insure that even if there is some damage/it's not perfect, that it will still seal.

IF a -6 works, then use it, if it doesn't, then buy the 14x1.5 fitting.
