No quitter here, i dont have my DSM anymore (the 2jz got me LOL) but i work on my friends DSMs all the time..so.. im still a DSMer

and i just picked up a 93 Colt in Teal..LOL....4g63 Tswap?4g93 swap+T..hmmm

Im just having too much fun in the Aristo TT (and the stuff is expensive.. 2100$ cat back and a
300$ Down Pipe ..i either have to order the Parts from the UK(at least shippings cheap) or Japan(Cheaper Parts but Shipping is a Killer!)


Edit: My buddy who has 2 DSMs (1 of which was mine) picked up a RHD 300ZX TT and a EUROspec LHD TT (faster!) so we are working on those too.. that vq30dett is stuffed in there.
 
No kidding, one of my good friends has a Fair Laidy (93 model) and holy crap is that a tight fit. He told me all these stories of how Z1 and other places just pull the engine to do turbo swaps etc. Which is crazy to me.


Still they are nice cars even if they are a PITA to work on.
 
Sold my 420A Talon because of the problems it was giving me :cry:

but...

now I got me an 02 VW Jetta with a 1.8T and now I know the joys of having a turbo ROFL :thumb:

FYI I plan to make a glorious return later on in life once I have the money for a Turbo DSM
 
Well after years and years of building, racing, tuning, beating DSM'S up I am officially retired from dsm's right now. I am not moving on really to anything else, Its a sad year really, Sold my bikes, my dsm, my crx, but whatever, Happily to say the buyer is a former dsm owner of 2 1G's and wants to restore it and continue to build and maintain it, so im happy its not going in the hands of some 16y/o that is gonna get it for a first car and beat it until its dead and junk it... So LONG white 1G you will be missed. Maybe before the year is up a new 1G awd will be ready :shhh:
 
Yeah I feel you... I am starting to feel the same way where I want to sell everything. Let us know whats up maybe just get a decently fast car and leave it semi stock and call it a day. Best of luck and keep us posted on what you do
 
Right I'm driving the CRX, its sold but a buddy put a deposit on it till he gets the rest of the money so yea, and i have an 03 ford focus that will be my daily driver for now..

What I'm thinking of getting next for a daily driver/tuner would either be a WRX or a GTO 6.0 6speed.

WRX why? comes stock AWD, Turbo'd and its not going to be 20 years old. so i wont have to worry about fixing all kinds of OEM parts before i want to start upgrading. plus they handle really well and its 4 door incase i want to start a family withing the next year

GTO? V8... cheap and easy go fast parts... and everything else i said about the wrx minus AWD turbo'd and 4door. LOL


But you never know i may fall inlove with a mint low mileage 2G GSX...

But as a daily driver i wont buy another 1G

Cool cars, but there's nothing "cheap" about them. Ever price out an intake manifold, cat-back, or even a set of headers for a newer GTO?

Beginner mods will set you back a few grand easy.

Yea but when i mean cheap and easy go fast parts, you can put an Intake manifold, headers, full exhaust and it may cost you 2k, but you get alot of performance out of simple upgrades on it.


Also I have no issue with drivetrain mods, but i was stating that why bother converting you're car to an AWD when you can just buy one, and save the money and headaches.

"setting up the complete rear end, suspension, relocating the gas tank", ETC...

Well, I guess you haven't actually done your research, and you're doing your best at assuming.....

An pair of long-tube SLP headers retails for $1259.95 and will net you 15 HP. If you want to change your rocker ratio to a 1.85, you'll gain 10 more HP and spend $984.95 for that.

Compared to the DSM platform, the GTO is very expensive to mod. It's not cheap unless you're used to modding Ferraris.

You say it's a headache like you're familiar with the process....

Truth be told - it is what you make it. I've performed the swap and I didn't think it was bad at all. I spent $1300 on it, so it was also cheaper than going out and buying a 99 GSX.

Like I said, research before you assume.

conversion write up was the reason I did not sell my Fwd set up to buy a gsx. I been like your biggest fan when it comes to building the perfect dsm :shhh: :thumb:

Maybe I have a friend in the business that can get me all the parts for a GTO i want for 40-50% of whatever ridiculous price you pay.

No it really didn't get to me man, But you should know me by my threads, I really always respond to people with smart remarks toward my comments or intrest in whatever.

Anyways I am taking 1month off of dsm's then my journey to find an 1991 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD 2tone is going to be on its way... But this time its going to be for strictly track.

Nope, no smart ass comments by me in this thread. Just trying to steer you in the right direction. You say modifying a new GTO is cheap, I show that it's not. You say the 2G AWD swap is difficult and "not worth the effort", and I beg to differ. If correcting you in a proper manner makes me an asshole, then so be it. Listen before you speak, and maybe the next time you won't feel like someone is "putting you down" when you get schooled on something that you thought you knew about. ;)

And MAYBE you're blowing smoke. It's funny how those "maybe's" work both ways, isn't it? Screw maybe - here's a definite; I am in the parts business. I know what those parts sell for on the retail side, I know what those parts wholesale for to the retailers, and I know what warehouse distributors pay for them. Good luck finding anyone who is willing to take a hit by selling something for 50% off. Just the fact that you think there's more than 50% margin for retail parts sales, just proves your ignorance on the subject. And I'm not saying that to be mean to you or "put you down", but it appears that you still haven't learned to quit ASSuming.


And there's no sense cluttering up this thread with the assumptions of a former DSM owner, so feel free to PM me with any more replies on this subject (whatever it may be).

You are a parts whoya.... So explain to me how I am able to get parts in NY cheaper then the wholesale distributers actually sell to the stores. And at a rate even better then that too.
