I was driving my car regular and came to a stop and turned a corner after i turned my car
stopped accelerating as fast and the boost gauge read 6psi when before it was 15. I go home
and check turbo, plugs, couplers and did a boost leak test. I found a leak and fixed it and take the car back out for a drive, this time when i floor it the boost gauge reads 0 and the car barely accelerates. Also there is a loud ticking sound, I can also still hear the turbo spool a little bit. There is no check engine light on, what could this be??

My mods are 16g, 255fp, mbc, spark plug wires, greddy type s, i have 1990 laser

Check shaft play on the turbo. Axial play means the turbo is ####ed. Some side to side play is tolerable.

Have you checked fuel/spark? Could you be running on 3 cylinders? Also, check if one of your injectors came unclipped. I had that happen once.

Actually, it runs? Does it sound normal, does it smoke, what exactly does it do when you hit the gas pedal?

yes it drives fine no bucking or nothing like that but it does make a whoooaaaa sound? if that helps and also i can hear my bov a lil but im not boosting nothing so.... also when i hit the gas it take for ever to speed up

I would do both, a compression and leakdown test to see you have any engine damage. Where is your base timing set @? It should be 5 degrees.

Sounds like the clutch is slipping, not putting much load on the motor which in turn causes the turbo to spool but not spool all the way, and the car accelerates slowly. Does it rev easily even though it's not accelerating that fast?

Yea, the clutch could go out. I have seen it happen in the first 100 miles.

Have you already gone through all of your intake piping from the turbo to the manifold? Any sort of air leak between the turbo and throttle body will give you almost normal vac. readings but make your car run like hell, if there's a leak on the manifold you will see a lot less vac. reading on your gauge (if it's hooked up to the manifold). Plus it wont build boost because the pressure is escaping. Could be anything from a loose hose, a broken hose, or a hole in the intercooler (which has happened to me). Also, with your air metered with a draw through system like these come with stock, you canNOT have a leak between the turbo and head or it's going to cause the car to misread the amount of airflow and run like sh*t.

This is the exact same thing I went through when my wastegate went bad. It drove fine but would not boost, not really anyways, sometimes I would get like 5 pounds at almost redline.
Like previously stated I would check all vaccum lines and IC piping and def. check the wastegate. If you can move the actuator rod in and out pretty easily its shot.

+1 on the WG. That's what keeps your boost. If the arm is broken, it's letting all the exhaust gasses bypass the turbine and not spinning it to produce boost.

I had the same problem last year and it turned out that the valves were gone, had the head re-done and everything was OK. the car run fine it just would not make much boost..
