o2 housing, vent or recirc?

I have mine vented to the atmosphere and it really isnt that big of a deal. First, you only hear it when you are hitting your boost limit, so it you have it set around 10 psi or whatever you have, it is only going to be when you floor it. Mine is set to 22 psi and I only hear it above 4200 rpms and I am really gunning it. Second, as far as efficiency as long as you O2 is big enough having it recirculated isnt a problem. If your O2 and dpis on the small side or are restrictive then having it vented will make it better since some of the gases dont have to make there way through the dp. Since you have a three inch exhaust then it wont be a problem till you get 600+ horse where you could be maxing it out. So for now it is really a choice of if you want to be loud at WOT or nor so loud. Good Luck

P.S.
It wont heat up your engine bay unless it vents in there, just have the dump tube exit below the oil filter and you are fine, no heat issues.

ive drove plenty of loud cars, my 1st car was a honda crx, (hondas suck) but i had 21/2" exhaust with open headers for awhile it didnt really bother me it was loud, really loud, and I've road in a lot of old v8 cars like everyday for two years and they were all loud too, so noise wont be a problem for me

I hate Honduh's. They sound like weed-whackers with little ricey boys thinking their cars are fast. And cops aways target them in Calif. You can hear their cars 1/2 mile away.

yea i know LOL, i honestly hate how hondas sound, its like a lawn mower, ive heard lawn mowers that sound better LOL... but yea i think i did the right thing by trashing the crx and getting an eclipse :D

Or you could have made the crx 4g63 awd :) now that would be the shit. And the honda guys would go off the wall if they knew what was inside and out hehe :D:D

yea that would be pretty nice but my 91 gst look so much better then my 91 crx i had, now that i junked it i realize how much i hate honda, and crx's and early civics are UGLY but i love my eclipse ive always like them!!!:D

I say go with a recirc. :thumb:

Whoever told you to go with reciculated was wrong, unless you want to do that for other reasons: cops, noise, etc. Nothing chokes turbo more than a recirc. O2. It is pretty noticable even on small turbos. If you want to recirculate you have to make it as far as you can from the turbo.
I'd say go external dump.

I completely disagree. An o2 dump on a 16g is just loud and annoying.
When I switched from my dumped housing to the internal, DSMLink confirmed that there was no performance loss. With a bigger turbo, sure, it helps.. but still not worth it.

Yeah it wasnt cheap, and I had to wait a few weeks for FP to build it. But it was worth it to me for the noise reduction. Now I can hear my turbo instead of a dumping wastegate under the hood. :rocks:

I agree, I am tired of my dump too. Don't have the cash for one of those though. :( Guess i'll just have to be annoyed.

smaller framed turbo's recirculating your not going to loose any power. On a larger frame'd turbo under high HP boost applications you might depending on where you recirculate it at(o2 housing definately).

If you are running stock/eprom'd ecu that has the knock sensor to control timing I would not run atmospheric dump. It can set off the knock sensor.

Kinda old thread here but I will still post if someone wants to hear my experience with it.
Well, I still have the 14b on. My set up is 3inch megan racing turbo back and SLS internal gated dump tube. When I first installed my 3inch exhaust with no catalic and stock o2 housing, I would creep 16+psi. I have it set at stock. Which is at 9 to 10psi. It sucked driving like that. Then I decided to have a 3 inch high flow catalic. I would take it for a spin and I'd still creeped very high. Though it would creep much slower. It would stop at my set boost which is stock. Again 9 to 10psi. Then it would just satrt to climb. Slowly but it did. The cat did help but not enough. I then decided to install an o2 dump from straight line specialties that I had bought some time ago. After alot of research on these, I decided to go with the SLS. Why? well, its the only internal gated that will safety dump outside the engine bay. All of the ones that I've seen, the dump tube is very short and it dumps right on the cross member on a 1g dsm. I don't know about the 2g. The dump tube on the SLS dumps on the passenger side of the down pipe. I installed it and WoW!!! No boost creep.:thumb: It stays at set boost. It is a bit loud but only at full boost. My car is a DD. No problems with heating or anything. I really like this o2 housing. There is just one problem with it. Because of how the shape of the dump tube and its possition, it is pretty much impossible to install side to side FMIC. The dupm tube takes all the space thats in between the o2 housing and the Fans. Even if you had slim style fans. It won't work. It seems that I will have to buy another o2 housing that is re-routed. It really sucks. because the SLS housing is very nice made.
All in all, The SLS o2 internal gated dump with combination of a high flow 3inch cat, DID cure my boost creep. Whatever you decide to buy, don't buy ebay or SSAutochrome o2 housings. They won't align with your 3 inch dp. Again, only for 1g AWD. I don't know about 2gs or FWD. Go with either punishment or SLS. My personal experience.

jorge.

yea, so dumping your o2 fixed your boost creep? but yea im planing on having a dump off of my extrenal once i get the set up, i will have a external waste gate on my manifold, and i will be dumping!!!

You said you only want to do it once right? You should go external then if you plan on upgrading your turbo. Even if your change to a t/3 or t/4 setup you will still have your wastegate. If you plan on running an evo 3 and 3 inch turbo back with out a ported turbine housing you car will creep for sure from what i have seen.
