Thoughts on the turbos in the title (spool up times,lb/min,sweet spots,etc.etc.etc). I have done countless hours of searching and can't come up with sufficent info to make a decesion. The car will be a pump gas car, weekend street car on a 2.0. Power isn't really what I'm out for but would like to be around 500whp, it's more so geared towards 1/4 mile time (mid 11's - low 11's) I don't want to have a perfect tune to reach the goal nor do I want to have to push some retarded psi to get there. I realize that those are 2 things that are dependent on 1/4 mile times but IMO it's not all that matters. Mods are below and I also have a Tial 44mm WG that I plan on using.

Bolt-on Modifications

Magnus Intake (with Velocity stacks),Coil On Plug,PTE 5031e (Sold) , SS Oil Feed line, Pushlock Return line,FP Race Exhaust Manifold, Megan Racing 3'' downpipe, 3" Megan Racing Test Pipe, 3" Megan Racing Cat-back, 2G MAS, Cast piece for 2G MAS to Air filter, FP 4" Intake, NX IC Sprayer with 12lb bottle, Punishment Racing FMIC Kit,HKS BOV,MBC,Faze Boost, Faze Nitrous Gauge, Faze Tach, Glowshift Oil pressure & Water Temp Gauges, Red OBX Fuel Rail, 1150cc FIC Injectors, 255 HP Walbro with rewire kit,Alum. Radiator,Slim line 10" fans

Engine Management

DSMLink, AEM Uego Wideband, Aeromotive FPR, GM 3 bar MAP sensor

Engine Internals

Brian Crower Springs & Titanium Retainers, Brian Crower 280 cams, Revised Lifters, New Valve Stem Seals ,ARP Head Studs, Balance Shaft E-kit,Ported Exhaust Side of Head,FIAV Block off plate,EGR Block off plate,Cruise Control Removed along with all other vac. lines

Drivetrain Modifications

ACT 2600,SS Clutch line,Slotted & Drilled Rotors,New Pads,SS Brake Lines

Suspension Modifications

Front Strut Bar

I've also just bought a GM MAS,MAF-t,Couplers and T-bolts (SBR kit ) so I might be switching to that setup. I also purchased 15ft of -8an Russel SS line to run off of 2 Walbro 255's HP.

At the time of install I'll be running the SLS O2 housing flanged for the Tial 44mm WG with atmo dump.

Thanks in advance fellas

All would give you your goal. But the s258 spools the fastest and BW turbos are tough as nails.

exactly! Both are excellent turbochargers. The SCM61 has made great power and is known to be a good turbo, the S256 or 58 offer rock solid reliability and more torque and mid range than just about anything else in it's range.

There is not much hard rock evidence on the s58 for dsm's. I see a lot of evos, srt4 and honda boys running them. But not as much dsmers. Hopefully we can change that soon.
Ill be running a s58 real soon, I just need couple more bills and it is set. I need to find the best deal out there though. I will come back with numbers and information on it for sure though.

GVauto has made 445whp@23psi and pump gas on a S258 over a year ago. Just got word on a Ecotec motor that made 613whp@32psi with the S258 in the T3 .70 a/r housing.

.....is this Richie??? LOL!

This is what I keep saying and if there is info it turns out it's a T3 setup. The turbo very well might have proved it's worthy on other motors. But the info that is produced on these can't be carried over from the 2.4 SRT4 or a 1.6 or 1.8 Honda motor.

What about spool up on these beasts? On a 2.0, stock CR (for now), with a "ok" tune. As I've said before, If I have to wait till 5k then I better damn well sh*t myself when boost hits. :rocks:

BTW, I appreciate the vendors stepping in and giving some info over these turbos. :thumb:

I will be in the market for one :) but possibly with a dsm flanged not a t3.

No LOL not yet
Didn't you go with the 6152 turbo?

Nope, they're back ordered. They were out of the Mitsu housings and SP covers. They now have the housings in stock but are still making the compressor covers. I think this was the DSM gods telling me to think it over. :toobad:

For even more power with such a high top end punch, you cold always go with the S362 in the S256 cover in a T3 .70 A/R V-band. I've had some very nice results with it.

I didn't know they offer the 362 in a '56 cover. Do they run 'em in a dsm flange?

If you have a 256 and want to upgrade, can you just swap the guts?

Yes, but Swapping "guts" with the borg-warner line may not nearly be as cost effective as you might think. Some models have the backplate and cartridge as one unit, where they simply can't be "swapped".

I just hate to part with this FP Manifold. Otherwise this is the best time for me to switch to a T3 setup.

What kind of spool up numbers would you see with that S362 in the S258 cover?

Thanks Rich
