The product that EVERYONE needs is FINALLY here. The Australian company that was selling the components for you to make your own DIY Wideband is now offering complete units. This means that you no longer have to get the pieces and then find an electronics guy to assembly it for you. The best thing is the price its about $300 US to get it insured and shipped to your door. At that point the only think you need is the O2 sensor off of a Civic VX.

If you are wondering what it is or what id does I suggest you do some research online. The simple answer is that a wideband 02 sensor will be able to tell you your exact air/fuel ratio. You no longer have to depend on your inaccurate a/f gauge or datalogger. With this you will be able to read your exact a/f ratio at all times. I can’t tell you how useful this product will be. Some of us wonder how we ever use to be able to tune without a datalogger this will be the same thing.

I got this e-mail the day my unit was supposed to ship:rolleyes: should have just gotten the HKS

Message from Peter Gargano (Tech Edge Pty. Ltd.)

Regarding your recent wideband order. Please ignore this
(form style) email if it now doesn't apply to you.

It's taken us a little while longer than we first
anticipated, but we have now started shipping version 2.0
pre-built wideband units. We don't have unlimited resources,
so it'll take us most of this week to get to all outstanding
orders. We're shipping in the sequence we received orders
and I'll ensure everyone we're shipping to is told when their
unit leaves here.

I'd like to personally apologise (well, yes, I know this is
a form letter) for the delay, but it was necessary to
resolve some issues we discovered at the last moment. I'm
sure you'll be happy with WBo2, and I hope you'll agree the
delay was ultimately worth it.

Right now we still don't have a lot of information for new
users of wideband units but we hope to get more info up on
the WBo2.com web site very soon. We'd like to think that
most users will simply take their unit out of the box, add
some power (connect it to a battery) and a sensor, and it
will all work perfectly. We know you'll have lots of questions
so remember that you can always ask on the yahoo Oz_DIY_WB
user group :

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/oz-diy-wb/

Additionally, I'll try and update the information regularly on
our home page here :

http://wbo2.com/

.. to indicate the current status of firmware and additional
software (logging and calibration utilities, etc.).

It's important to remember that WBo2 is not a static product,
and we intend to keep developing it. This is possible because
the unit is mostly software based and has the ability to be
reprogrammed, allowing us to add features, or to tailor the
unit to specific installations or applications we had not
originally thought of. We also expect we have bugs in our
firmware that we'll fix, and you can re-flash (reprogram) your
unit to fix these bugs.

As with all new products, we expect there will be a few units
that will develop problems after we test and find them OK here.
This can be due to faulty chips (called infant mortality), or
other problems we didn't anticipate (version 1.5 had a problem with
the variable pots being mounted too close to the PCB, and this
cause the majority of warranty problems). We hope we've learnt
enough from version 1.0 and 1.5 to solve most of these problems,
but we're ready to back up our products by offering a 12 month
return to base warranty to the original purchaser. See :

http://techedge.com.au/warranty.htm

We also do repairs (for example, if you inadvertently run over
your WBo2 unit - we're serious, this does happen!), so we're
here to support you using your Tech Edge wideband unit, now, and
into the future.

I didn't want this email to be too long, so I hope I've covered
most of questions people ask. I'll also try and answer your
individual emails asking about the delivery of your order - I
apologise if this takes longer that you'd like, but we really have
been overwhelmed with a large number of new orders in the last three
weeks, and we still have a lot of documentation to write.

Regards,
Peter Gargano.

OK i just received my Tech Edge version 2.0 I have a couple questions.

1) Where did you tap to get a 10 V power source

2) how far down stream did you mount the 02 sensor

3) Where did you mount the control box (im thinking passenger side kick panel) so the LED's are visible from the driving location. the only problem with that is i dont think the cable from the display will reach.

I don't think there is a 10v source anywhere in the car.
Radio shack has an adjustable voltage regulator for $1.99, part number 276-1778 is $1.99.

That seems pretty odd that it would require a 10v source though.. you would think you could just hook it to the cars power.

Nice work:thumb: it was brought to my attention that if you tap the Fuel Pump relay that's a 12V source. The idea of a voltage regulator did cross my mind but I had no idea it would be only 2 bucks. ill check that out at Radio Shack.

I couldn't find a diagram on the Radio Shack site, so I'm not sure how you adjust it. Most like it has two pins on it that you put a resistor between, and the resistance of the resistor sets the voltage. That's my guess anyway. I have only used their fixed 5v regulator ($1.49 LOL, so I don't know what this one looks like exactly.

The back of the package should have a diagram that shows you how to vary the voltage, so you can decide when you look at it if you think you can swing it or not. It's probably pretty simple.

I'm a pretty amateur electronics hobbyist, but I would be happy to try and help you figure it out if you send me a picture or something. But it should be simple.

HTH!

Looks Like Extreme Motorsports, usually extremely expensive, has a Wb O2 gauge for $550. Anybody know anything about this unit?

I bought this unit from the US (im in UK) and received it in less than 5 days which is good in my opinion! Unit works a treat and will save me a fortune in the long run!:D

WHat about this....

Grap a wideban O2 and slap it on its own circut and run a gauge (votl or O2) off that. Why cant you simple monitor the more precice metering sensor with a regular gauge?

Are there advantqages to getting the different wideband sensors. Like the actual sensor part. I know alot use the one out of the Civic VX but I also see the Bosch LS4U and the NTK UEGO. The only actual infomation I have found about the difference between these sensors is that some are alot more expensive then others and the Bosch has a limited range of 10.1 to 25.1

Any advice woudl be great
