How far can one drive with the fuel meter reading at the last line!? :dsm:

Help i got 20 miles to go but Irvine's gas prices are killer, I at least need to make it out of Irvine heading towards Huntington Beach to be able to pump gas.

My brother drove into the driveway and the LF light came on and he went to school 63 miles away and made it. So you should be safe.

the light has not come on yet, but I'd never drove past the last line, i will be driving trough city streets
would that effect the reading? I don't want to risk taking the highway!!

WOW!! thats a relief. Wish me luck guys..."keeping my fingers and toes cross" LOL

Just put gas in the damn thing.. How can this even be a question that needs to be asked?

My 1g will get get around 20 in town miles with the needle buried and the gas light on.

(Burnett03) Ease up cow-boy!! this is a question I had to ask. I have never gone past the line or even seen the light come on. I needed to know how far is to far just in case some day this situation happens when I'm low in fuel and low on change, Capiche!!

I have never went to the extent of 20 miles with the light on. However, what's fun is to watch as you close the throttle and the light slowly fades to off. Until you gun it again, and it lights back on again.

Wouldnt running it that low make your injectors suck up lots of crap in the bottom of the tank? Doesnt seem good...

That's why your fuel pump has a sock and a fuel filter before the fuel rail. :D

So if the needle is at the last line with out the gas light ON I can manage to get 20 miles!? I know it's a risk I'm taking but, you all know theirs times where you either forgot to put gas or where to lazy to filler up.

I'll have to remember to throw up pictures I took a long while ago of my fuel gauge to show just how low it can get without the light turning on. Mine can go way, way, way below the "E" without the light. Sweet. :D

According to the service manual, the tank is 16.9 gallons. And the owners manual says that when the light comes on, you should have 2.1 gallons left in the tank.

Anthony, does your needle go all the way up to the F line when full? I could see the needle sinking way down below the E line if the gauge isn't calibrated correctly. I'd be curious to see those pictures though.

Nah, it actually goes slightly over. Tomorrow I'll have more time to post up stuff. Don't much care how low the needle goes, just as long as that light stays off (especially nowadays). ;) The pictures will show the engine running, the needle below the line, and the light off. It was interesting trying to take pictures while driving in traffic (to get real proof of the needle's location).

My light comes on at about 12.5 gallons. I have driven for a week with the gas light on before, without as much as a hiccup from the motor.

if you don't have money to get gas and want to tauntt the beast..... THEN GET A JOB.

also I've gotten around 40 miles as soon as the light came on before.
