I have a 1996 Eclipse GS. The other day on my way home from work it died in traffic and I had to tow it home. The check engine light came on the day before but I had no way to pull the code. I have replaced the coil and the cam sensor. The strange thing is that when I back probe the cam sensor I only get 8 - 9 volts from the hot wire and a solid .5 volts from the signal wire even when the engine is cranking. I believe it should fluctuate between .5 and 5 volts. If I unplug the cam sensor and probe the plug I still get 9 volts at the hot wire but 3 - 4 at the signal wire. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am getting fuel and the pump is running. Just cannot get a spark.

1. check obvious things like the timing belt and connectors for sensors
2. check for power @ the center wire on the coil pack plug. You should be getting 12 volts, if not replace your asd relay.

And lastly, make sure that pesky EGR Valve isn't touching any wires, that shut my car down on the freeway in the fastlane one day way back.

wires touching your EGR makes the engine not run?

wheni got my ca it wouldn't start, just cranked, found an unplugged clip in back of the intake, fired right up after that, had a big vacume leak coming from the intake plenum, replaced the gasket, and torqued the bolts down, put everything back together, now it only cranks again, i'm not getting spark, again, except everythings hooked up this time, any ideas?
