I have a Walbro 255 Pump and it's been rewired and that thing is screaming. Like tonight when I was coming home I really had to turn up the radio pretty loud to drown out the sound. Is this is sign that the thing might be kickin the bucket? I know they're loud to begin with but this this is ridiculous.

Check the sock and/or fuel filter. It's most likely something restricting the flow.

sound like we are having the same problem...ours started to have fuel cut I believe...about 4,000 or 4,500 rpm it started breaking down bad...seems fine below that...walbro 255 fuel pump was making more noise then usual but would stop. Now a few days later it will barely idle/run and the fuel pump is whinning like crazy...high pitched constantly. Do you think it's a restriction or is the pump going bad...not that old either ? It is using the stock wiring by the way.

Thanks,
Scott

Mine 255LHP Walbro fuel pump is also noisy un-rewired. I can hear pump while the car is at idle. I guess it's normal for the Walbro fuel pump? I could be wrong.

^^^ Same here. My old 190 was louder than my 255...maybe it was tired or clogged.

There are a few things:
First I know that the pump is not moving, but don't overlook it as a possibility.
Depends on how much gas you have in tank pump is louder/less fuel-empty/, or quieter/full tank.
It is possible something to obstruct the flow.

I have Wallbro 255in tank and BOSCH 044 inline. When I put the Bosch initially was loud as hell, but I noticed that pump was little loose/the bracket/ and after I fixed it, no more problems. Don't get me wrong it is still loud, much more that any Wallbro but I got used to it.

barely heard it before...now it's screaming...not normal...starts and stops. Car will not run/idle...is not drivable. It's only 2 years old and during that time the car has only been on the road 2/3 of that time.

my car is full interior. I am going to line the car with some lightweight sound deadener soon to see if I can get the cabin a little quieter. I'll post results when I do. (It's my DD)

I have a 255 hp from wallbro and it doesnt make a sound. I had it installed at English and rewired and I guess he did it right. I also have a full interior so that helps. Also the exhaust is kind of loud so that may be it.

My 255 pump is very very loud, and only about a year old. I recently rewired it, and the noise hasn't changed. I'm hoping a pump this new is not trying to die on me already. It seems to work fine other than the noise.

I have my 255 rewired with NO interior in the back and it does get pretty lound. Odd thing that sometimes it's louder/quieter than others, not relating to fuel tank level. Don't think it's a problem though since it's been pretty much that way since day one which was 3 years ago and it runs with no flow issues. I wouldn't be too worried about it being noisy unless you're observing some sort of flow issue.

man i tell u just installed a brand new 225 today and the little sun of a b**ch is loud as hell but seems to me that it goes away periodically

For the loud whiners, how long have you had the Walbros? And what flowrate? It seems like most people had them for 1-2 years. Maybe it's a bad batch of pumps?

my 255 also whines every once in a while, and if have my turn signals on the whine will get low and higher like its following the beat! :beatentodeath:

Okay, mine has been in for nearly 2 weeks now and it actually has gotten much quieter...

This morning on the way to work, I actually had to listen for it. It is at least as quiet as the stock pump.
