So tell me what you think of it.
Well this is my 1990 manual awd talon i bought for $350 dollars that ran none the less. Bought in the end of august. This car was owned by the original owner since 90 (woman owner) which lived almost right up the street.

The car has 103k on it now. The nasty thing was it had been home to every little critter in this neck of the woods, not to mentioned the smell. I had to trash the inside and remove 20 or 30 pounds of dead mice, mice crap, spiders, everything but a kitchen sink. Hell the exhaust (stock) was filled with dead mice and mice nests. I had atleast 4 huge lawn bags 3 filled with napkins and rags and 1 filled with crap and dead stuff, it was bad.

I thought it was at this point to sell it but after a good few weeks of airing it out, i realized that the car was still in great condition not to mention the price i had bought it for. Had no rust and was not wrecked. Car was sold because the original motor was blown so they used a 2.0 non turbo in a awd car with a awd tranny (which had 190 compression on the n/a motor!). Got it towed for 35 bucks... and since i had just recently parted out my other talon with the front mount, 50 trim, exhaust, and my fresh 6k rebuilt stock 6 bolt etc... I knew that this was the new toy.

The cars paint is amazing, Minus the paint on the front bumper and roof it had sat under a tree for the 6 years so it was shielded from most of the weather and sun.

Well i sold the fifty trim (stupid-stupid-stupid me) but it will get a FP green or red or if i wanna put up a good rape on the locals maybe a gt35r, but i need to know more about the holset hx35-40.

It needs a bath again and a better engine clean.

Just need to finish cleaning the head, order my timing belt, oil for the t-case and lastly Finish front mount mock up. I also need to find a honestly great working turbo, because there are so many people selling blown turbos on here and ebay and other sites it is not even worth trying to get one other than through a local.

Defiantly not bad for 350...

No if i can only find a another 2g awd manual again for 200 ill be very happy. I got lucky last year with that but i dunno if it will happen again.

Gonna keep A/C and power all, heck i might even try to make this a targa top, cause they look sick on a 1g.

So far i have done a few weight reduction stuff but not going extreme with it i think i have managed to take almost 100 pounds out of the car. So i should be around 3000 without me in it.

What kind of exhaust is that in the second picture you posted? I'm pretty sure that's not stock, or after market.

Your exhaust looks like the most freeflowing exhaust evAr.
Haha its a Front drive exhaust welded to work on a awd i know its riged but i have a 3in turbo back going on.

The shop that put the na motor in thought it would be a good idea to put a front drive exhaust on an awd, its riged so bad.
Are you not worried about wiring? With all those mice?
I was gonna switch the wiring but i pulled everything out of the car and checked everywhere, nothing is wrong with it anywhere. It is still mint like it came from the factory in 89.

Yeah i plan on getting the exhaust today my 3 in turbo back on and getting the t-case on.

Nice! That looks identical to mine. I got mine for $400 but with a few more probs and not quite as good of shape. I do like that paint scheme on that year of talon. Nice to see someone else fixing one up...I've started to fix it but the bad turbo has got me rethinking the whole thing:(
Edit: Changed my mind after a couple days and started finding some more parts for good deals got me going on the project again :thumb: Some people may say the infection stalled for a few days but has taken back over again:D

Well some updates:

Car is about 95% done just need turbo, radiator, exhaust put on and the rest of the wires on the firewall to be wire tucked.

So far this is the weight removed:

-Fidanza flywheel 8.5 i think Stock is 19.5 i think
10 lbs
-Both fans replaced by 1 2300 cfm slim fan
10 lbs for stock slim one weighs 2.5
-AC and power steering complete everything includes fluids
50 lbs
-Front and rear window washer bottles, brackets, hoses, with full fluid
20 lbs
-Cloth and glue to roof under head liner
2.5-/+? lbs (About)
-Emissions, charcoal can, egr, hoses, brackets, electrical crap all of it
8 lbs
-Rubber mat (Firewall) on the inside behind the dash and inside the engine bay
15 lbs
-Cloth on the bottom of carpet
10 lbs
-Trim front crash beam for intercooler
20 lbs
-Spare tire, jack, and carpet, brackets that hold this up, all panels in truck minus hatch cover.
60 lbs ish
(all of this was covered in about 40 pounds of dead animals, 3 mice, animal crap, 1 or 2 snakes, thanks for this pos state and people leaving cars under a tree for 6 years) some of this was damp, wet , trash etc..
About 15-25 lbs for brackets from the dash, bolts, anything bracket or electrical not needed throughout the whole car!

So far 190-220 pounds i did not believed it so i weighed it our cars have alot of crap in them.
About 3-5 55 gallon lawn bags of removed parts and about 4 55 gallon lawn bags of dead crap.

Best thing is if you look into the inside it looks like a stock car with 103k miles on it!!! Trunk cover hides the trunk, interior panels, headliner are complete throughout car and i still have 100% inside of the car and the engine looks clean and almost looks like it is floating.

Got around to installing the manual boost controller but i dont know if i want 15 feet of hose running to it just so i can have it in the car. Just need to get a 2g maf, mount the boost gauge, fpr so it does not move, finish bolting the front mount on.

More pics later today

Wow much better pics here...

All that is left:
Solder: slim fans, 2 of the clips that go onto the thermostat housing, boost gauge wires.
Put in the 255 hp in the tank and replace tank hose.
Figure a way to have the front mount bolted down.
Bolt in the sound system and fpr so it does not move.
Put on the front bumper, lights and hood.
Turn motor over for a while to build oil pressure up since it has been sitting for 6 months.

Then all i gotta do is turn the key and fire it up.

New pics as of 3-21-08 Partial wire tuck complete

The BOV can be installed in two directions right? Why is it facing away from the intake?

I plan on getting the maft translator but i am gonna use it this way cause i the pro and cons on doing this.
Flanges are the same but i had to turn it cause it hits the stock maf, and i cant fix it cause of the front mount intercooler piping.

Update 4-17-08
Car started... ran like ass, But did not run on 7 year old gas. Decided i was gonna go ahead drain the old gas out and put my 255 in there but when i opened it, not good.

Looked like a mud pit and 7 year old gas does not smell good.

I had to replace the gas tank cause it was completely rusted. Turns out they dont sell the awd gas tanks new and the filler hose to the tank and filler they stopped selling... Great. Cause there is only 2 in a junk yard 60 miles away, and i got kicked out of there.

Well dropped the tank, Switched it with a almost new unit (nice find on this). Just got this done today.

Since i am gonna switch everything over to 91+ parts, i went ahead and pulled the dash and the whole interior. Turns out he 90 interior harness has different clips than the 91+ so its not a direct bolt up affair, nice. Well pulled the whole interior harness out and got my self a 91+ awd manual harness.

Got the engine harness in and am ready to finish installing this this week. The interior harness i am waiting for it to get shipped and received.

Did some more weight reduction, cause i wanna try getting 11's on a 14b with no nos, no slicks and complete interior.

Pulled another 25 pounds of sound deadening, unneeded brackets, and wiring out.

This weekend i will have the car running if i get my interior harness in that is all i am waiting on.

Well got the interior done, New pics, and almost time to start it up.

I just gotta get newer pics, cause i got the whole thing done.
