Its a urthane single stage that can also be clear coated. Im not worryed about clearing the engine bay because its a high gloss single stage, but will be clearing the rest of the car.

hey man good luck gettin that sprayed, so its nice and slick but not blotchy.. single stage metallics are generally a no-no... ask me how i know that...

Looks good tho...almost painted my car similar to that..sill thinking about adding a black pearlcoat to the roof and spoiler..

Whats the brand of the paint your using? Im looking at painting my car with east wood's urethane single stage system and then clear it. VERY nice color choice,Very nice car for that matter :thumb:

Yea this is my first time painting so i figured id go with a single stage.

(BASTARDDSM)- Do you have any tips on spraying it so its not wavy? I know that wet sand and buffing a Metallic single stage is a dont. I heard that you can do it very lightly with 2000, but if you got to far it will look like shit. Thats why i wanna clear the rest of the car.

Its a no name brand paint but has alot of good reviews, "Trinity 1945" And hey this is a budget build and a track car so it dosent have to be perfect. How much dose the eastwood single stage run?

threads like these really inspire me to keep pushing forward with mine, glad to see your actually following through with what you say your gonna be doing.....huge props on the car, the work your doing, and the goal:thumb::rocks::thumb::rocks::thumb:

I wish I did.. its super tricky...with aBC/CC system you "fog" the last coat on so it evens out the metallics. but with a ss paint that will make it unglossy. But if you clear it it may be ok..ive only sprayed ss metallic once.. didn't turn out well at all. bc/cc is soooo much eaisier. The whole newbe eaiser thing, is contradictory. You would think its eaisier because its only one step, but it is by far more difficult. Honestly I would try to pannel paint it...You got a better chance of less blotchyness then, but it may not match. However, once the color is down you could probably get by with a quart of decent basecoat to fix it, if it isn't right.

Heres the link Eastwood Automotive Primers & Clear Coats: Epoxy Primer, High-build Primer, Urethane Clearcoats

Im going to be using their master painter kit(Eastwood Co. - Master Paint Kit) which includes everything down to the masking tape, And im using their pure white, $749.91 with 2 gallons of white and 2 gallons of clear. Cant beat that IMO

Yea my last coat i dusted on to even the metallics and it work perfect and everything is even. The paint lays down very well. The only problem is the waves cant be wet sanded down (casue of the metallic). And yea i know what you mean about SS not being easyer, but i figured, less painting, less time, less mixing, less chance of messing somthing up. But its just as involved.

But i changed my mind and WILL be clearing the car. Id rather spend the extra money and be able to wet sand and buff to have a mirror like finish.

See if the SS wasent metallic i would be able to just we sand and buff that. But i love the way the metallic looks as apposed to a solid color.

That stuff look pretty nice for the price.
You really dont need 2 gallons, you should be able to do your whole car with 3 quarts to a gallon, unless your going to paint the inside of the car too?

I like there RAT ROD black paint, im doing my fiberglass hood that color! Or ill use HOD ROD FLATz.

Its a conventional gravity feed gun, nothing to fancy, its an 80$ gun. I dunno what modle tho. You need to come by and see my car too! Not much to see tho everything is apart.

Good luck painting the exterior though. I found painting with a metalic to be extremely difficult. It can be very inconsistent. I would like to try again, but it would take a while for me.

I really enjoy painting a lot as well. Finding the right amount of hardner with the paint can be a pain in the nuts sometimes though. I love the color you picked out too.

Ive got a few ideas for my car seeing this thread. Thank you and good luck with your car.

Im going to paint every thing but the inside, (engine bay, Door jams, ect.) And just want to make sure i have enough to put a few coats on. And i want like 3 coats of clear to get as much depth as possible without the paint being to thick.

I have a DeVilbiss, If you want to use that for your clearcoat. Also, they sell an agitator cup that keeps the pigment mixed during your spraying.

Thanks ill let you know if i need it!

Im not worryed at all about spraying the metallic. The paint and the metallic lay down very even and very effortlessly.

Yea im going to run 15x7 DR-16s (replica rotas) only 12lbs each.

Going to post up some more progress in the next 15 mins!
