Hey guys I just got a socketed eprom ecu and im getting ready to order the stage 3 chip from keydrivers. Is there any suggestions you guys recommend before ordering it?

Have you thought about maybe getting DSMLink? I dont know much about keydriver chips but I do have link in my car and the fact that you can tune just about anything you want makes it worth every single penny I spent for it. Just a suggestion.

I have thought about it but i just dont have the 575 to spend on it right now sorry. Believe me i would love to get dsmlink. Maybe next year for taxes LOL

haha well that is how I ended up with mine TAX SEASON!! Well sorry I cant help with the keydriver chips don't know anything about them but good luck and hopefully someone can help you out!

I've ran my car with just a keydiver chip and maf-t. No safc. I ran mid 11's like that LOL. All I did was pour race gas in and turn up the boost to 30psi. The car ran fine all the time and the wideband always read good. I think keydiver chips are awesome for the money if you cant afford dsm link.

As BrokenTsi (isn't that redundant?) said it's keydiver not keydriver.
Jeff makes a great product to use and run. DSMlink is better to tweak on and risk breaking your TSI.

If you don't already have injectors then get new ones big enough to handle your future goals and don't look back.

Just so you guys know it is (keydiver) not (keydriver) he lives in Florida; lots of water out there! sorry I missed the post above me. my bad!

Lol Sorry guys i didnt even realize that. I do have PTE 680s witch is why i decided to get the epron ecu and go with the chip.

What does the "Reset octane" mean?

Whats a safe REV limit with the stock valve train?

Whats a good rpm for the (NO-LIFT-TO-SHIFT)?

I sorta remember was "octane reset" was. I'm pretty sure the ecu learns what type of fuel you're using, and makes adjustments accordingly thru the knock sensor. So it may "detune" itself when using a lower grade fuel. The "octane reset" just wipes out that memory so the ecu never detunes itself. Anyone feel free to add more to that.

Stock valvetrain can rev pretty high. However, stock turbo, cams, and intake manifold cannot. Learn your car, pick a point that works best for you.

No lift to shift is an awesome feature. You need a good working clutch and transmission for it however. You rev as high as you need to, and when you push the clutch in, the rpms will drop to a certain point that you choose, and you dont lift off the gas. It keeps it from revving to infinite rpms. Also keeps the turbo spooled for those running large turbos. I rev my car to 9200rpms, and my NLTS was set at 7500 i believe. But thats too high for you. Jeff will know best. Usually the default choice on NLTS is the best.

Jeff lives not to far from me, Great guy with great products and services.
get it all!!! i did :thumb:
my opinion of course

I have the keydiver on my car right now, and no problem at all. Just MAKE SURE you tell him about everything that you have done to your car so its recorded on your ecu. Plus 8k its too much if you have stock bottom end, just tell him to set to stock specs which is 7k or 7.5k. There is no need to rev it that high anyways.

Stock bottom end has nothing to do with it. I trust the stock bottom end to 8500+ all day long. The only thing that really prevents those high rpms is the stock intake and cams really.

Ask Tuna Talon. The stock valve diameter really starts to "hold back" at 8500+. . .

Stock rev limit is for you. I think it's only $20 to change your rev limit when/if you upgrade the intake manifold, cams, AND turbo.

Well someday dont know when' i will get cams and a intake so i was thinking just take the 8g advantage and just shift around 7g for now intell i do get cams and intake.

Any body else have opinions on what the "reset octane means"?

Tell Jeff as much as you can about your cars mods and future plans.

Let him know if your are running a MAFT, the air temp and barometric pressure sensors readings can be frozen so weather has less effect on the MAF's readings.

I have drove a half mile bouncing off a 7900 rpm limiter with no problems. And my stock motor and head has 150k miles, and old noisy lifters.

Phantom Knock Removal ignores knock when not in boost and helps your timing if you have noisy lifts or motor.

If you use MMCd as your logger get 2x Karmen, you will log higher air flow numbers without the reading maxing out.

Get the boost gauge changed to a knock gauge.

The CEL light can be changed to a shift light. I have mine light at 5 counts of knock.

Octane Reset. It resets your octane(long term remembered knock) every time you start the car.

Jeff can also control the solenoid outputs for nitrous or cyclone manifold control. I always wanted a warning buzzer that came on at high knock counts, I would ask if he could do that if I was ordering a new chip.

Im just waiting for the right deal on an EPROM'd Ecu. It seems like a really good deal and a good tuning tool. Im sure DSMlink is pretty. It is. But the keydriver ecu is still plenty good.

CEDDY: I really need the future were it ignores any knock before boost. Do i just ask jeff to add that? I didnt see it in any of the options on the web site.

That is called Phantom Knock Code. Its on the page under Extras options for 1Gs.

He also changes a/f ratio because dsms run pig rich from the factory, somethin like 10.5:1 I had him burn a 11.5 a/f into my chip. Made a big difference in tuning and driveability. Ask him about it. And he also has some custom timing curves he can burn into it to allow better pump gas horsepower.

I believe I was considering buying your ECU brokenTSI. Thats a really good deal. I guess I slept on it. If you havent sold it, PM me again.

Octane Reset

Both the OE and the Keydiver ECUs retard the timing immediately when knock is detected.

The stock unit resets the timing slowly over about 300 miles if no knock is detected.
With the Keydiver octane reset the timing is reset when the engine is turned off.
