This would be much easier to read if you put it in a resume format. Word processors should come with default templates that you can just plug info into (Microsoft Word does). If not, search the internet as there are a lot of templates out there.

Also, what are you making a resume for? A specific job or just to have one on hand?

It is going to be for a job, I know my resume and really jacked up right now, I just started throwing stuff on paper last night, and the format didn't transfer when I copy and pasted it. I just thought what my dad said was funny and figured other's could relate.

As an employer, I would look for your achievements more than your responsibilities. Be sure to list them in past tense under each of your job positions. You can also develop a separate section for skills, in addition to certifications you might have, list secondary languages, computer skills, etc.

It's fine to list hobbies but I would elaborate on any one in particular. I'd cut the MacGyver part and the rest. Some might find some humor in it but most would see it as BS.

that was worth reading the whole resume for ROFLROFL

I second Wret's statement about accomplishments. The Program Manager (the guy who tells me what to do and I don't question it) of the last project I was on suggested the same thing.

He said that people tend to just list their responsibilities, but what you need to do is express what you have ACCOMPLISHED where you worked. Start each item with a different verb:

-DELIVERED 8000 pizzas hot and on time
-DIRECTED 35 award winning movies
-PROCURED cheaper supplies for the restroom at a cost savings of $1000 per year
-ESTABLISHED quality control procedures that reduced product failures by XX%
And so on....

Remember, if an employer gets a resume from two wrench turners, and one just lists the fact that he turns wrenches, while the other says he turned 10000 wrenches, the second guy gets the callback.

Good list.

What job is it for?

RN!!? CFO for microsoft? Ahh, I know. NAPA parts guy.

As an employer, I get the impression that you are too much into cars(yours in particular) and are too preoccupied with it to write a good resume or perform the job you are applying for. This, of course, is under the assumption that you are not applying for an automotive technical position. If you are, good luck. Its hard to get into the automotive field today(a good paying position) without some sort or formal training. If you have some past training, that is good for an apprentice position but without some sort of certification, you are just like the rest that are applying for the same job. Your resume makes it look like you can work on a (insert your 4wd here) but were the car wash/detailer in the military and for the fd.If you have some formal training and certification, it would be in you best interest to list it in your resume.

Also, be careful of typos. If you have errors in your resume some employers will automatically skip over it. There are a couple, and I can quote them if you want, but I assume they are "dumb" or overlooked mistakes and you will revise them when you look through it again.

And like everyone else said, what kind of job is it for?

LOL, That resume isn't going to be used, i have already rewritten another one, main reason for posting that is for the joke my dad sent me LOL...

I am applying for a position with KBR as an oversea's contractor as a mechanic. I have made a few contacts and have been told my experience with the army will allow me to be qualified.

Also, before i get it, i know working in iraq isn't the safest place to be, though I feel being with KBR on base is safer then what I will be doing with the army. Main reason for going with KBR or another goverment contractor, is my unit isn't deploying anytime soon.

I also have a friend who is very good with all the grammer stuff, she will be looking it over before anyone importand see's it. I should also have a nice list of acheivements when i get back from california!

As long as you've got it taken care of that's all that matters. Good luck man.

Wow, why does everyone suck at getting the funnah?

"I ALSO HAVE SUPERIOR

HA! how random

A resume needs to be tailored to the job and company that you are applying for. I never put hobbies in my resume, for me my professional life and personal life stay separate. Make sure your resume fits on one page and is easy to read. Most managers/HR folks look at each resume for about 15-30 seconds. If you have paragraphs, no one is going to read it.

I could use some guidance on resume building and getting a good job. I'm tired of low pay, I need something to settle down with.

Keep your resume simple and utilize bulletized lists. Try to keep it on one page. The employer quickly reads your resume and if there is too much writing on it they won't read it or remember any of it. Keep it concise. If they want you to elaborate on an experience/achievement they will ask during the interview. This gives you something to talk about during the interview, rather than saying what is on your resume verbatim. Leave your hobbies off too; if they want to know they will ask.

Your resume should basically be an elaborate self-introduction, not your life story. Be prepared to field questions about everything on your resume. The interview is more important than the resume, because everyone can look pretty good on paper.

Dont put Hobbies into a resume.. dangerous hobbies means you are likely to get sick or injured and not show up for work/perform poorly/get sick after a weekend of hunting etc etc.

wow people he isn't asking for advice he just wanted you all to see what his dad wrote in the hobby section. This does show who is paying attention....

Well he's gettin a lesson whether he likes it or NOT!

So when can I set up an interview?

Oh, never mind. I thought for a minute you were serious.:toobad:
