Ehh, I can't really see it that well. Did you take that with a camera phone or something?

I always used to put a bunch of useless crap in there 2 that's why I decided 2 put it there.. I had lots of pennies and a 2 double aa batteries in there LOL.
Yeah sorry about the shitty photos my digital camera broke. So I used my phone, but its showing up pretty good on my screen

not bad.. looks good

but isnt it hard always looking down to see the boost gauge? esp when your at wot and you want to know whats going on, so you have to take your eyes off the road for a sec.

Yes I have to take my eyes off the road to see it but not even for a full sec all it takes is a real quick glance.. I did a lot of WOT runs when I was setting up my mbc and It really wasn't a problem at all. I only think it would be an issue if you were doing some WOT runs and going around turns or some curvey roads..

Lookin good man I LOVE working with fiberglass, most of the stuff I make though I just go ahead and throw on ebay and you can pull a 300% profit most of the time. I would say do alittle more sanding and throw some paint on that with alittle bit of bondo to give it a nice smooth surface to paint.

It's good work, I don't know if I would have put a boost gauge there, maybe something like EGT or Oil Pressure. Hey if you didn't use the Cobalt gauge, are you selling it? PM me if you are.

Didn't Jason Smithey used to make something similar to that?

I agree, I wouldn't put a boost gauge in there, but hey if it doesn't affect you then that's cool. Now that we're in the question of gauges, do any of you know if anyone makes gauge cluster for where the stock radio went? Brother has a aftermarket radio and the useless space above looks like a good place for gauges...

nice work, although it looks really uncofrtable to look down to see your boost, i would put something alot less vital like a volt, air fuel/EGT/ since chances are youd be tunning with someone who could look at those gauges while you were pullin some runs. But hey if it works for you...Nice job regardless.

I decided to play with some conduit and bondo :)

I don't like A-pillar pods, I'd rather keep my gauges a little more discrete. So I went with the center vent pod for my boost and oil pressure, and I made my own custom pod in the bezel for my wideband. Looks better in person than in the pics, but you get the idea.

I know they have those replacement bezels with two gauge pods at the bottom, but I don't think you get good visibility with them with the steering wheel in the way. This way I got it up near the tach, perfect visibility, angled toward my eyes, and it doesn't even cover up my coolant temp or warning lights. And I didn't have to buy it.

Nice work. Did you have to put any flex into the bondo or just use it straight?

good work! looks awesome, love the placement..The only thing I see is it that the finish product doesnt look smooth enough, maybe a finer sandpaper would have done the trick, but maybe its just the picture.

Does look pretty good, just smooth it out a bit and it will be perfect.

thanks guys!

Gamble - no I didn't add anything to the bondo. After I cut the slot through the bezel for the conduit pipe to fit into snugly, I glued the connection front and back along the seam. Then trimmed the pipe to it would fit flush with the clear plastic cover over the gauges themselves. The bondo was just a filler so it wouldn't look like the pipe came out of nowhere.

However, when I first applied the bondo I did way too thick of a coat and after it cured for a few days the shrinkage caused it to crack. So I sanded most of it out and re-did it using thinner coats, letting each harden and cure before the next. I don't think there will be enough flex or vibration once it's screwed back into the dash to cause any cracking or popping out. But if I'm wrong I can always redo it.

Slippi - I've sat in another DSM once with those dual gauges at the bottom of the bezel and it just wasn't easily in my line of sight. I had to lean forward to look over the top of the steering wheel to see them, and for mine I just wanted it to be in the open close to the tach for quick easy referencing.

And I didn't see those gauge bezels for $20, haha I thought they were like 40 or 50... but ohh well, I enjoyed the little project and I'm happier with mine. Plus I don't have a 4th gauge for the second pod if I had gotten that one.

DSMzoom - yeah... when I was in the bondo stages like I said to Gamble above, I was using 150 grit to remove more material, then 400 grit for final sanding to make it real smooth. I think it would have been great if I left it how it was, but just as an added security against cracking I spread a layer of super glue over all the bondo front and back... that was probably a dumb idea, not sure what made me do it LOL. But anyway, it gave the bondo a very hard exterior shell, but the glue was very very hard to sand smooth again compared to the bondo. That's the best I could get it unfortunately.

And haha sorry I didn't take enough pictures to make a good writeup but I guess I could explain my process.

I would like to see a cluster incorporated in the dash (something similar to the WRX/STi family). Whether it comes from an aftermarket vendor or it's custom is no mind to me. I've seen four Greddy gauges stuck in the middle of the dash, but it wasn't as presentable as I would have liked.

Nice work. :thumb:

Upping this thread to see if anyone has done something like this.
I would like to see a 4gauge pod on the a-pillar.

i got one of the plates off of ebay to mount three gauges above the radio. not my custom job but its custom, had to trim the piece around the radio to fit my AEM UEGO gauge though.
