Hi guys. Not sure if I am having problems or just not used to the clutch. Here is my story. The car is stock for now, but not for too long. I just got the transmission rebuild with 4 spider center diff, since my gears and synchros were going, I decided time to upgrade. I also got an excedy flywheel, and stage 2 clutch from them. The sectioned, cerametallic one. I got new slave cylinder, tob, fork, lines, and bunch of other things.
When I drive, firstly, the grabbing point on the clutch is much lower, which is what I expected, kind of hard to drive it, it is somewhat streetable, but ####ing hard to keep it all smoth in traffic, seems more like the clutch wants me to be harder on it, like launch it or something. It is hard to describe the feeling, but if I go too smoth, or slow on it, it starts to bog the car. Also when i downshift I have to rev match, which is not a problem, I know how to do, but if i am going 3k rpm or higher, i cannot simply downshift without rev matching, it either slams into gear very hard, or bogs a bit, if i go a bit smoother on the pedal. Not sure if its just the drivability of it. This is my first upgraded clutch since my stock one, and not sure if it should be like this or not. Guess I have to get used it, and practise, but almost like i am learning to drive again, almost.
Also another thing I noticed, after a bit of traffic (15-20min or so) somewhat stop and go traffic. I notice when i get on a highway and out of traffic, when i gas it slowly, it grabs fine, for example in 3rd, 4th or 5th, when i stomp the gas down completely, it is slipping. It doesn't do it at all in 2nd gear no matter how much I give it gas. This is my second day on this clutch, about 150km on it so far, and I am driving easy on it, but I did give it gas twice to see hwo it is, in 3rd, and 5th gear, and it was slipping like that. Can it be because it is overheated from traffic? glazed? I am not sure? Or should it not do that at all?
My first clutch like this, and just wondering if i am being too paranoid, and should just break it in good first, or maybe it was just overheating from stop-and-go traffic.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
