Hello im getting my first dsm a 1995 talon tsi fwd with auto tranny :notgood:. Anyways it has a 16g turbo, 2 1/2 inch straight pipe, 1gen bov, and a manual boost controller. Ive never owned a dsm(ive always been a truck kinda guy, but due to gas prices) and have been duing a lot of reading up lately, and read that they do require some maintenence. I was just wondering some of the first things i should do/ check when i get the car. Anything that tends to break or wear out faster on this car? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I'm not really sure but i dont think i ever heard of a 16b, maybe its the 14b from the 1g, not sure. if it was me I would check for any leaks first, than the timing belt condition. See how the tranny shits ### its automatic. At start up see if any smoke comes out. The valve stem seals usually go over time. check the compression if you can. should be 164 standart, 121 the lowest and not more that 15 between of all of them. This car will cost you alot on maintence if you keep raping it.

Word of Advice. Make sure you have a DD beside the DSM. Trust us when we say that.

thank god i have a second car. you will need one for sure. sorry to tell you that hahaha

so this is not a good dd?

A DSM is a fine DD. You just need to take care of the car (aka don't abuse it) and do all of the maintenance that needs to be done. There's is a lot of people who daily drive their DSM on this forum and have no problems, including me.
I agree with cyclonekid, check out when the timing belt was last changed. Possibly take it to a mechanic and have the car looked over.
Btw, are those ALL the mods that are on the car?

How many PSI is it set to run with the MBC

EDIT: Welcome to the DSM world and DSMTuners

The guy said the wastegate is not hooked up right now, that it has some pin disconnected. This is because he said it has new rod bearings i believe and the car has to break in before it can handle boost. So when i were to buy the car it would be running no boost and i would be able to set the psi and tune it. What is boost creeping?

Boost creep is basically when the boost reaches the preset amount and then rise (creep) above that amount.

Usually happens when you put a bigger exhaust, down pipe, or O2 housing on. Make sure you check for boost leaks before you start boosting it again. Check on timing belt, water pump, and oil pump. Is there any CEL on?
