I wanted to do something a little different with my new turbo. Sprayed it with dupli-color high temp paint. Let me know what you think.

man that thing looks awesome. Its either that or the polished comp. cover. That regular dull stock look is just horrible.

Holy Crap that is awesome looking... Come back and give us an update if the Paint is flaking off.

Thanks guys :). I can't wait to get it put on the car. I'm currently putting the motor together, but I'll definitly post back when I get it running and let you know how the paint's holding up.

Do they make a wrinkle black high temp? I am the master of that rattle can wrinkle paint. All about holding a heat gun over it right after spraying it.

Oh course i havent finshed with all the words yet. as i dont have time to finsh right now. but i'll post pixs when it's complete done. yes getting each word is a bi*** and a half.

XXXXXXspot for Pix XXXXXXXXXX

Yea, post your painted turbo! Maybe we can get a thread started with everyone's painted/powdercoated turbo's. :thumb:

I had my compressor cover powdercoated chrome a while back too. Its lost it's luster, but still looks better than the standard comp cover :D

thats what I said earlier, chrome or black, but not the factory dull looking color. Post yours I would love to see it.

Looks really good. Never really dealt with paint, but I had the high tech Tim's Turbos aerospace coating (or whatever) on my HX40, and I heated the hot side (with the coating) with a torch for about 1 minute, to extract a broken stud. Well, the paint was cool to the touch within 5 or so seconds, never faded. That is another coating to look into.

That looks awesome! If you aren't already, try using a real small paint brush to paint the letters.

Black is probably what you want to use- it should dissipate a bit more heat, but not really enough to matter.
I love typewriter paint, but the stuff always winds up looking pretty tired after a year or two.
I hope you're using a Dremel to polish those letters. Should go pretty fast with a flapper wheel.
