ok last week i took my car to the dealer for the transfer case recall. I got the car back and noticed a puddle of fluid under the car the next day. I could it coming from the transfer case and down to the transmission. i took the car back to the dealer and they swore to me the transfer case was not leaking. I said it was they said it wasnt and wanted 60$ to put dye into the transfer case. I said no because i knew where the fluid was coming from. I took the car out today and i heard some noises and then it just got really loud sounds like a grinding coming from the front center of the car. I was wondering whos had theres grind what it sound like it there a sure way to know for sure its the transfer case? thanks for the help and input guys!

where is the leak coming from?

jack up the car (w/ safety stands)

and visually inspected for yourself. both witht the car off and on.

if you can safely get all 4 wheels of the ground, you can even put it in gear.

well its not leaking anymore. my guess its out of fluid its really loud now

if the dealer caused the leak, the dealer will have to fix it.

the more you drive it, the more you'll damage it. not to mention cause an accident.

My transfer case went out right after I bought the car. Didn't so much grind as it did squeal. I could tell it was the TC on the highway, the sound came from the hump near the gas pedal. I knew what the sounds was and made for the nearest exit. When I pulled it off the outside looked like an ex. manifold, massively heat cycled. When I opened it up bits and pieces fell out and was covered in black soot. My guess is that it had been leaking for a while then after a 2 hour drive cooked off what was left of the lube until it finally seized. Never really made a grinding sound so I don't know if that is your problem. Dealers are a pain to deal with. I just bought a TC off of DSMtrader and siliconed the the yoke way less of a hassle and cheaper than a tow.

Yeah thats what the recall is about, leaking causing it to lock up and cause accidents. Don't drive it if you know it's empty.

I was almost killed on the interstate when mine locked up and I was stuck in the middle of the interstate for 5 minutes. Call up JNZ Tuning. They have a recall kit for $30 that has a new yoke and U-joints that will fix the problem. Go ahead and get the seal for like $3 too. It's not worth risking your life for a $30 fix. That was hands down the scariest moment of my life.

well i got the car home after it started grinding. I call the dealer the next day and told them i had the yoke changed the week before and i bought it back the next day because it was leaking and they told me it was fine. the service manager told me to have it towed up and if was the transfer case i would get the money back from the tow. They called this morring and told me they ordered me a brand new transfer case. they told me it should be done by tuesday of next week. the service manager told me the could over night one but when they called they said they couldnt. I also have a new question. would the transfer case being in the state that it was in case the drive shaft to have play in it ? would anyone know?
