Today i was trying to resolve my low voltage issue which ended up being that the tension to my belt was to loose. After everything was said and done i tried to start the car and would just crank but would not fire up. I checked to make sure nothing was disconnected and everything seemed fine cranked it up gave it some gas then it struggled to start then finally held i let it stay on and after awhile it turned off by itself. I did the Keydance and pulled codes 12 11 11 32 55. So code 32 i know is due to my EGR blockoff so everything looked to point at the camangle sensor so i disconnected it cleaned it off and vroom the car started up, turned it off, then on and flawlessly turned off and on so i was cool! then i started down the drive way everything was cool then about half way down the road the car bogged out and died. then again i tried to restart the car and then again it just cranks but doesnt fire up again...is there anyone that can possible send me in the right direction instead of shotgun mechanic it and just going out and buying what i think is wrong which i believe can be the cam angle sensor.

Sounds like you already know what the problem is and you are just looking for a sense or confirmation. The Cam and crank angle sensors communicate with each other to provide spark. Failure of either one will result in the car completely shutting itself off. When i had a faulty crank sensor my car would fire up and drive like nothing was wrong and i would get 3 blocks down the road and it would just shut off. If i tried to re-start it would just crank but never fire. I could wait about 10 minutes and fire it back up, but it would die again about 3 blocks down the road. Only code i was getting was a misfire code. You need to test your CAS and magnet if you havent already.

On 2gnt, part of code 11 says to check the connection at the PCM. Perhaps your car running/driving provides enough vibration to loosen your connection somewhere in the wiring enough for the car to shut off. Doesn't mean it is at the PCM, it could be the wiring to the sensor itself, but it's just a thought I had. Or it could be the sensor itself. Like 4UH8ERS said, be sure to test your CAS and magnet.

CAS = Camshaft Angle Sensor (aka CPS Camshaft Positioning Sensor) it mounts on the side of the block at the end of the exhaust cam (right above the EGR valve) and detects the angle of the camshafts to adjust for spark. You can't miss it...it's got to be the biggest sensor on our cars. Works in conjunction with the Crank Sensor (sometimes referred to CPS...Crankshaft Position Sensor) as someone earlier stated.

oh okay gotcha how can i go about testing this do am i supposed to take a voltage meter and if so what is it supposed to between the car starts up when it sits for a day and then it'll go but when it comes time to try to come up the drive way it dies =/ i hate having my car in a different city but work is taking my time from working on my car

Quick question that may be relevant to the CAS and the magnet. Is it possible to put the magnet on wrong? Like does it have to be screwd on it a certain direction?

You shouldn't be able to install it wrong. It has two offset bumps that fit into corresponding dimples on the camshaft to prevent misalignment.

But then it should be able to be installed 180 out then ??

i got the situation fixed my camshaft sensor had a crack in it swapped it out for a new one that set me back 117 bucks but my car runs great and fires up like a champ thanks for the input guys :dsm::thumb::rocks:

Glad we could help. Thanks for reporting back with the results.
