:dsm: Hello to all tuners,
im in the process of doing some upgrades to my eclipse and im trying to make the engine compartment look a lil more "clean" so i mounted the battary in the trunk still not good enuff so i tryied to take out the cruis control unit and and ran into problems do i have to replace the throttel cable for a non cruise control one

I removed mine for two reasons. slightly less weight (every bit helps). And a cleaner engine bay.

1993eclipseGS, see the picture, are you saying the green is okay and the red should be left alone with the cruise removal?

You can remove the green to remove the cruise control and keep your stock throttle cable. If you want to remove the box on the firewall on the right side of the battery (red in your picture), then you need the non-cruise control cable.

I got a new one from Gary at Mitsubishi Graveyard for $45 shipped. Check out his website and send him a payment by paypal, it is that simple. He's a vendor here, so its not hard to find him.

I replaced my cruise control cable and box with a non-cruise control cable today, and WOW, the throttle response is total different. It is way more responsive now than it was before.

sorry to bring back a old thread, but I took the module off the passenger side fender well, the box is still on the fire wall, but my speedometer quit working? are ther any ways around this? other than puttin it back on

Just detach the cruise control that is near the strut tower. Leave everything on the firewall in tact unless you want to buy a 1.8 n/t cable which is a direct swap. Just unhook the cable carefully and take it out. You should be able to easily get the motor out with the box still on the firewall. Removing it from the strut tower just free's up room.

Are you trying to remove it to swap in another engine or are you trying to eliminate it? If you are trying to eliminate it, get a Non-cruise control cable. I bough mine from Mitsubishi Graveyard for about $45 shipped.

How did you stumble upon my 1 year old thread? LOL
I just kept it. I might just go to extremepsi.com and buy the non cruise throttle cable for $45ish
Thanks though

Oh crap it was a year old. oopps I was using the search button for cruise control info and figured out my problem so tried to help you LOL

Can I remove the cruise control for my car? It doesn't work and it is taking up precious engine space.

Well that sucks, looks like another project for another day. But if I did want to do it where would I get that cable and how would I go about doing it?

Ok i know this thread is old but i used a 1g non CC cable on my 2g gst and i got rid of the black box on the fire wall and the little motor by the battery all i did is bend the metal part where it bolts up to the fire wall and everything works fine the TB opens all the way and no problems so far plus i got it from the junk yard for $7

I have 95 GST with cruise controll. Will this cable work for removing the crusie controll. I have heard of there being alot of excess cable which this one does not have This one is alot shorter then the sbr cable so I wasnt sure. Ther cable is off of a 99 eclipse rs.

Has anyone shortened the actual cruise/wiper lever in the car? I've got the cruise removed off mine, and just need to find a cap for the end of it. Then it's just a little stubby wiper lever, without any of the cruise junk left on it.

Got mine in today from the dealer. $52

You will thank yourself when you go to work on your car. Cleans up the engine bay alot. Money well spent.

haha I know. The piece of shit cruise control doesn't even work anyway.

There's some pics if you don't know what the cable looks like guys.

I'm just throwing this out there because I regularly go to the junk yard and pull 1g and 2g non cruise cables. I have heard that they are/can be interchangeable between generations. I know that they are extremely similar, except the 2g is shorter and the the mounting point on the firewall is angled a little differently.
