Scrolling through the classifieds and saw this painted stock 2gB front bumper, reminded me of the Evo X..

Anyone do this before?

What's with the current trend of painting the front black? It actually looks more like an Audi to me

It's just painted black in the center and side ducts in black gloss.

This looks nothing like it mitsubishi realized they needed a better front air dam.

It's not photoshopped. There was another person on here with a white 2g that had the same paintjob on the front bumper (looked better on the white than it does on the red, IMO) but I believe he got rid of it. It was always one of my favorite cars to look at her.

Not photoshopped, there were a few members who already did something like that and posted it.

It's not bad looking if done nicely like that. Comes down to taste, I personally wouldn't, but it's not an eyesore like most bodykits on dsms.

Looked better in white..
DriftSM (I think) had it on his car before.. looked great.

I think it looks hot! :thumb:

It's better than putting a tasteless aftermarket front-end on the Eclipse. The ECLIPSE has such a beautiful designed body, it's nice to see creativity while still keeping it OEM. I would definitely try something like this but not the same exact thing. I would try to do something a little different. (This is not to knock anyone with aftermarket front-ends because there are very tastefull front-ends as well, I myself HAD a aftermarket front-end before and loved it)

I agree. It just looks like a 2g front bumper with added vents. However it looks good and probably a whole lot less troublesome than an actual kit. I went through 2 kits before finding one that would fit right resulting in some pretty expensive paperweights in my garage. :dsm:

I think its sometimes known as the Drift_SM mod after the username of the person who came up with the idea.

Damn...I thought this scheme had long since lost its appeal from when I first did it a few years back.

I knew a few members had duplicated my idea. Each person seemed to do it a little different. It looks best with a heavily textured paint. (Like a bed liner.)

It started out with having the bottom middle chin coverd in black as shown in the first post. Then I later removed it from the lower middle balck portion to look like what it does in my advatar.
I have long since removed this scheme. Now my car retains the original look.

Good to see people still interested. :D
