dent in rail that is caused every time the sunroof stops and tries to come back (flatten the dent down, try to close it again, dent is back... i think whatever is supposed to lower down into that hole is lowering too soon)

uea u see those screws if i remeber i think theyre star but not sure
take them off remove the glass close it with the glass of to siif the shits moving right
then open it enought to put the glass back on and tighten the screws up tight

tighten them down tight? right now all 6 are just a little loose... i figured it was supposed to be that way to let the glass move...

thanks though, i'll try it anyway and see if that gets me anywhere

that wouldn't have helped.. turns out there was a little pin that had come out of place... i finally found it after about 20 mins of staring at the sunroof as i opened and closed it with the glass off.....
thanks though

problem solved

I have a sunroof on my 95 GSX, but I have a slight problem. When I open it completly it gets stuck and won't close. Its not the motor, but a little pin in the bracket (I opened it and temporarily fixed it) that keeps the sun roof from closing. This pin refuses to stay in so I've reserved myself to not opening the sun roof until I fix it. I searched and found the same temporary fix that I did (just pusing the pin back in with a screwdriver), but it keeps getting stuck open. Anyone know how to fix this? Or should I just be heading to the junkyard to get another bracket?

Very common problem on 2g's, mine does the same thing. You need to get another bracket or a whole other rail depending on what exactly is borken.

I had the same problem, i think. I cleaned the rails, with a little WD-40 and paper towel. There was a lot of gunk in there. That seemed to work for a little while. It then would do it again only when it closed, it would go about 3/4 of the way and get stuck. Not sure about the pin thing, but I helped mine along when it got stuck, sort of gave it a tug, that seemed to work. That's the thing I've learned aboutn DSM's just give it a tug

Well his and mine are happening because they used a peice of plastic to hold the rails in place instead of a peice of metal. Cheap mitsu  :thumbdown

Same thing happened to my sunroof. I thought it was a that pin that couldnt allow my sunroof to close so I went a head a replaced the whole rails. When I took of the sunroof motor I found out that the cables or the threaded rods that open and close the sunroof were stripped.

Its not hard to replace it, just make sure you put in all the screws or you will get leaks :p

wow....and i thought a year ago when i had this problem that maybe i was the only one b/c i never got any replies to my post, LOL. But just like xinfiniter said.....mine was the cables. They need to be greased every few years aparently and they had probably never been ( i had just bought the car, LOL, i guess it wanted to reassure me that i was driving a real dsm). But they were really rusted and that caused them to strip. I had also thought it was that dumb pin....so i jb welded it in...dunno if it was a proble or not, but its fixed now ;) .

Hey guys. I just had this problem... sunroof wouldn't want to close. So I took ur advices to remove that plastic piece that's there for no good reason. And it worked! Thank you guys for that! But now I've another problem. Just before it closes, I get a very loud crack sound as if something broke. And it only comes from the driver side of the sunroof. Thought it was some debri but then the sound was still there after I cleaned the thing. Any ideas out there? THanks!

well I thought my car just had a moon roof cause it just opens and goes up doesn't slide back at all. I was talking to a friend that also has the same car and he was telling me that mine is a sunroof and should open up. What are some things that would keep it from sliding back to open all the way. I would like to try to fix this so if you know anything about the 2g sunroofs I could use some advice

You might just need to get new slider tracks or your sunroof is just misaligned or came off the tracks.
