Mine mounted on the front of the rad. I kinda like keeping my fogs.

I ended up fitting a fairly large setrab on my talon .. I had to do a fair amount of dremel work to get it to fit and 8an lines with the nomex covering makes them very stiff to move.( plus the 45 degree fittings on the housing did not help but i was sick of paying 12 bucks for fittings and 15 for shipping . So I had to route one of the lines through the hole which I widened by the washer fluid bottle . Also I had cut some of the brackets on the cooler off , which makes you feel like crap after paying 180 for it.

You can see in the pic i had to cut some of the plastic :/ Unfortunately from me trying to fit it on over and over and figure out the bracket / space I had stripped the sides holding up my bumper.

I am so happy zip ties were invented.

You can use a Sandwich plate but depending on the turbo you use and the size of your downpipe you can run into clearence issues with the Oil filter because of the extra length of the filteer housing. Most people will just go out and buy a new or used 90 oil filter housing and use the stock oil cooler line location. All in all, I suggest the 90 oil cooler method.

I personally have to do this because there is insufficient room for my V-Band Downpipe from my GT35R. Im still actually going to be using either a Subaru Oil filter or a Miata oil filter.

The recent "hot oil filter of choice" seems to be an ultra small Wix/Napa gold line one. There is an active link thread on it, and I've heard about quite a few people running them

Napa Gold part number 1365
Wix part number 51365

I just found out that my main stock fan DOES fit, so I have a small 800cfm Spal fan that I'm mounting on the back of my huge ass oil cooler... I'll post pics soon.

Is anyone running a forward facing filter housing with a sandwich adapter? This way you wouldn't run into any clearance issues, plus you could use an oil cooler.

I think once again it depends on what oil filter , depending on the sammich you use it could come in contact with the bottom rad support \ support beam. Most people running the forward facing oil filter have a gigantic down pipe and use it mostly for strip , so a oil cooler isnt of much use .

Right on, I was just thinking of doing that so that oil changes aren't such a huge pain. I have to wiggle the filter for a good while to get it to slide off and getting the new one on is even harder right now with the downpipe in the way.

Yes, I'm using a sandwhich adapter I got one from Canton racing on clearance. I don't have a camera right now. I used a double end hose barb to connect the lines together. I was going to remove them all together but didn't have the stuff to do it at the time. When I get the money to do my 2.3l I will just take them out. I also installed a Amsoil remote oil prefilter/filter unit at the same time.

I'm using the adapter, which requires that you keep the stock cooler in place as well. It's a close fit, but it fits. I'll get pics later.

Can some of you guys that said you would get pics maybe put some up? I know this is kinda old, but I'm really considering re-doing my whole oil filter setup and running a forward facing filter housing, sandwich adapter, and a cooler. I would really appreciate pics since I can't find any.

Diamond Star Motorsports kit.

When the oil cooler is slanted like that, how effective is it? Wouldnt using a slighty smaller one and turning it straight to the duct be more effective?

So long as there's adequate airflow over the fins you're fine. I'm going to be doing some ducting on the frontend of the car for the radiator, fmic, oil cooler, and ps cooler but I need to get some brake ducts installed firstbefore I move onto that.

i didnt go to the lengths you guys did. i just ziptied mine in and had it facing straight out like the smic does. Held 100% fine, never saw the zip ties. :)
