Well, First off its just a stock motor with 70k miles on it. It came off a 5 speed and i put it on a auto tranny. My problem is when its in park and i start it idles at 1700-1900 rpms when its cold and 1500-1400 when its warmed up. When i put it in drive it goes right to 800 rpms. Also I've got two sets of wires cut and hanging in my drivers side wheel well. Ill get some pictures tonight.

Thanks for the help.

Idle issues I always recommend a boost leak check and testing the ISC.

For those wires, I would check the oil filter housing. There should be two attached to it. One for the idiot light and the other for the pressure gauge. Also check the power steering pump. It should have a wire attached. Those three always seem to come loose.

Every automatic car I've driven when cold will idle pretty high in park and when you put it in drive, the rpm's will drop to under a grand. I was under the impression that this is normal because some small amount of load is put on the motor when it is in drive compared to park.

Okay, ill make a boost leak tester when i go to home depot next time.. but its not like plugs its cut wires, ive got everything hooked up.. After school ill pull off the wheel and snap a picture.

Check the ISC then do the boost leak test. My dad has an automatic stealth and the ISC went bad, it would idle ~2k and you put it in [D] it would drop it's rpms to normal driving. If you don't have a bad ISC (check to make sure its adjusted properly with the screw inside of it) then I'd check the boost leaks or a BISS to make sure the idle is properly adjusted. Good luck hope you get it figured out
