Well I just finished and got it all hooked up. I personally enjoy the more stock look and did not know wear to put my safc so this setup works for me. I just wanted to post it to maybe give some other people ideas and more importantly for you guys to tell me what you think.

The switch on the left of the safc is for my dual stage boost controller

The red light you can see next the air vents comes on when the second stage of the boost controller is activated.

How are you gonna see it if your indash dvd is on the way?!?! :D

otherwise it looks good and just put a guage next to it.:thumb:

EDIT: nvm about the gauge, didnt see the switch.

If his DVD player is like mine then it's extremely hard to get it to fit in the top slot.

I like the layout man, I'm looking for ideas for when I start working on my "new" car and I like this one.

I don't like having the volume knob behind the shifter, and how's the shifter clearance there? Stock, my Talon came with the two-piece radio/cassette and separate CD player. The CD player had been on the bottom, and you couldn't swap discs in 5th. I changed them top-to-bottom, and then the shifter blocked the damned clock.
Otherwise, the layout looks good.

Shifter clearence is pretty good, its about an inch an a half to two inches from the volume knob when im in 5th. the biggest thing i was worried about is that the screen would hit the shifter when it was coming out. It doesnt though even when the shifter is in thrid.

It looks good, but I think it would look better and be more functional, and overall make things easy if the dvd player was on the top din.

I have experienced what defiant mentioned, and the stereo controls etc on the bottom din is a pain. Also it hides your safc.

But on a positive note, I like this setup better than eliminating the vents or hvac controls.

Overall I like it, but if I was in your shoes, din slot setups would be switched.

thats a pretty great setup. I like how its flush, makes it look clean

I like that it looks good! must be nice to still have the radio to go along with that. I didnt want my SAFC to look ricey up on the dash, so I did the next most logical step. Oh I should have seen yours first! Great job. heres a pic of mine....and Yes there is no radio at all anymore! That is my SAFC and my wideband gauge!

did you buy that off ebay? i saw where they had one for a safc where the vents go but i havent seen any other ones?

Origanally I put the safc on the top becasue I liked how when the screen is out it isnt covering my heater controls, and when its out it is just covering wear the stereo is suposed to be. But lookin at RUBBERBURNER's set up It looks good as well becasue it covers the heater controlls just about perfect and isnt covering the vents to much.

I dont know if this question was aimed at me or not, but yea I made that set up out of the old under stereo pocket. I cut into it and hot glued the safc flush and bought a sheet of plastic and folded it over for the spot wear the switch is. Pretty dam proud of the it came out if I must say so myself :sneaky:

clock blocked..ROFL

HAHAHAHA!

I was going to say

Clock Blocked again!

Defiant, you should consider the Eclipse 1pc double din. CD player on the top, cassett is located kind of in the middle and the buttons for FFWD, REW, blah blah blah...

I love mine so much that I've gone thru 3. (stupid 12 year old electronics!)

I'm pretty sure I tried all the DSM radios, including a really sweet one from a Stealth. Then I switched to one that plays MP3 CDs and cost a hundred bucks. Now I change CDs about twice a year.

Bah!

You took the easy/convenient way out.

Something about that stock look... I cant get an aftermarket unit just yet.

How did you like the Stealth player?

The Stealth player was gorgeous, and one of the features it (and some of the DSM radios) has I wish was still on radios is a switch to turn off the display. The new LEDs are lovely readouts, but the damned things are bright enough to give you a tan. I opened up the Dual faceplate and painted the LEDs with a thin layer of White-Out to choke them down.
Another of the cool things about some of the stock radios (and, the modern ones, now) was an AUX plug on the faceplate. I'd not seen that until the DSMs.

See thats the only thing I wish my Eclips eDouble Din had was the AUX input.

I saw this on my friends 1991 Subaru Outback for the first time.

I really want one just cause using the tape adapter for my iPod sucks.
