Ok, I have searched forever, and I know there are dual boost controllers. My question is do they make SAFC's that can hold multiple tunes? So you can run low boost when cruising around to save on fuel economy, and be able to flip it up on the fly if you want to run someone?

I know I say it all the time, but the best, easiest, friendliest, ... best tuning solution is DSMLink. You use a latop to tune, not a little electronic box or anything. You can save multiple ECU setting files for race gas or E85 or pump, whatever. It's kind of expensive though, but it is easily the best purchase you can make for your DSM.

Except a 6 bolt, if you have a 2g. Oh yeah, fill out your vehicle profile.

With the AFC you cant. With dsmlink you can but you need to have a laptop in your car or at least a palm pilot to switch between tunes

I'm pretty sure the SAFC2 has a memory for 2 correction "maps". The SAFC1 does not.

Nice... I have always wondered that. so basicly keep an extra laptop in the car and you will be good to go. I am NA right now, but am hopefully going to get a AWD Talon soon.

With DSMLINK you can import/export as many tunes as you would like, I also vote DSMLINK. I am a proud owner and it helps way more than a SAFC/MAF-T tuning device.

if you map the car right you won't need 2 tunes to do what you're wanting. It's hard to explain untill you've messed with either a cell type system (like megasquirt and AEM) or a graphng style (like the haltech) But, basically you have it tuned conservative on fuel/spark at lower boost settings then tune the upper boost levels for a safe rich AFR. That way when the boost is turned down you will be running those areas that you set to be "conservative" but when you step the boost up the mapping is already there to handle the duties of providing spark and fuel exactly how you set them.

He's pretty much right. Most of the cars I tune run between 26-28psi on race gas, around 11.5-11.7 A/F then when they wanna run pump they just turn the boost down to 18-19 and it runs the A/F down to around 10.8 or so for a good pump gas tune, no need to switch back and forth just lower the boost.

so your saying the computer will read where the boost is at (Via how much air is coming in the MAF) , and adjust the fuel and spark accordingly?

I am thinking you tune the car to your max boost at WOT, though you will still be running less boost at lower RPM's, until you build it. You would naturally have to adjust the fuel curve as the boost builds. So if you turn the boost down, the ECU will just use the curve, but stop adding additional fuel because you are not getting additional boost to require it.

Don't get me wrong on this, but I seem to remember Greg Collier was running a dual boost controller on his car before he sold it and he would run at one boost level for most of the course and when he hit the straightaways, he would change to a higher boost level as needed. How did he factor that into his tune on the car? Ninja, you on today? Could you explain the setup on your car?
