So I have been confused by reading some threads. Do the 1g head bolts stretch or not? I have gathered that 2g do.

And how much are normal head bolts vs ARP? I've heard some people say that ARP are barely more, but a set costs $225 from what I've seen... I was just curious.

Eeehhh.... no. I just picked up a set of ARP's and a Cometic as a combo for 160. The 6 bolt version is 150. That's through Extreme PSI or MAPerformance. If you're paying over 200 for headstuds, you might as well go with some L19's or A1's.

Edit: To make clear, that was ARP's and a Cometic head gasket for 160. ARP's alone are around 95.

Were you looking at a kit that is not only the head bolts but the main studs and crankshaft bolts? From what I've seen, a lot of people just do the head bolts as ARP.

I just picked up the head studs and gasket, since I'm doing a headgasket job. If I was doing an engine rebuild, I would go with ARP everything, but the OP only asked about head studs anyways.

A ha, I was looking at L19s. What is the difference? And A1s as well? Are ARP more than enough for a build less than 400hp? More like 300hp? When are L19 or A1 studs needed?
