A friend gave me a complete 6 bolt block, and he already bought some slightly used ross/eagles for 400. I did the machine work, and totally assembled the bottom end for $350.

i got a stock 6 bolt with bent valves for 400. It came with intake mani and exhaust mani. I plan to drop in over 8 grand for 450-500 HP on a 2.3 stroker with a GT35R

200 with reworked head, fresh 2gpiston/1g rod. I supplied new bearings, ARP stud/bolts kit, and BSE kit. So I guess you could say I have about 400 bucks.

Picked mine up for.. hmm i think around 600 running condition :)

So it seems to be anywhere from 150 for a junkyard motor to 2000 for slightly used but built motor and of course 3k+ if you build your own motor from the bottom up. I'm still debating on picking up this 6 bolt but thanks for all the replys, at least I know what price ranges I'm dealing with now.

C-mon... If you buy pistons there like $400. Rods are $600 for Crowers even....

Get a crank....Cheap..... MAchine work..... 300 maybe. Assemble your self...Free!!!

I got $1300....With my addition...

$3k for a buschur stg 3 block maybe..:thumb:

Do not machine the crank and expect to run as much power as others w/out breaking.

A new crank is neccesary or a used one that is in good shape. The $500 topline crank snapped in the_jester's 10 psi 2g setup. One MAY not break on you, but why risk what could happen: ruined rods, pistons, block.

A running, used block can be had cheaper and w/ no assembly labor.

my long block from a junkyard was $650 (for 2 complete motors)
when it was over i had around 1800-2k in one of them.

Your forgetting about bearings, gaskets, belts, oil pump, water pump blah blah... I'm not just swaping out a block, if I build one from the ground up its going to have new everything and thats not even getting into the head. Are you going to leave your stock headgasket on?? Stock head studs?? In my case timing belt??

I picked mine up for 800. Complete long block with turbo and everything with Webcams. I bought it from a guy who said he bought it from Dave Collier. The guy I bought it from never installed. It was clean!!!

I had $400ish in one I built, then sold it for $700 and bought my tsi. It came with a bunch of extra stuff that I sold to build that motor, so another 4-500 minus whatever I sold,LOL. The engine I sold recently put down 342 whp.

One of my DSM friends paid about 600 for a solid used 6-bolt block, head, intake manifold, and a few other things. In very good condition from a very well-known and trusted member of the DSM community. I gotta get me one. :sosad:
