I'm currently doing some research in EDM Tails. All my german contacts have told me that they have Reverse Fog Lights integrated into them. Alot of the Euro spec cars I've seen have shown me to believe this, because of the shadowing and lighting of the insides of the tails. But a set of tails I am going to be purchasing in the next few days, does not show this same shadowing.

During my researching, I found this! EDM 2GA (aka Non Facelift Model) headlights were different. I know that JDM Spec for thier tail lights and headlights are much different from ours. I had a Honda Accord with JDM Tails and corner lights. JDM Spec corner lights have to have a buldge, kinda like our 2gb headlights. I don't know why. But I found this photo showing a 2ga Headlight with a 2gb similar buldge, but in a square form, not round like ours.


I'm going to do more research to put in the FAQ of the Headlights, Tail Lights, Corner Lights, Mirrors, all the exact differences from USDM Spec to Canadian (which isn't much), to Euro Spec, and possibly even Japan Spec Changes (hardly doubtful).

Those look like my old lights.
I took them apart and now i am trying to clean the yellow off the glass.
I will paint the inside black then put it back together. I am thinking of selling them.

You mean they have the bulge? Can you take pictures?

Do you notice in the photos I posted, there are bulges coming out of the blinker area? Just like the 2gb Headlights, USDM 2ga headlights don't have that.

Why do they have that on them?

ITs EDM/JDM Specs. If you ever look into Importing a vehicle from the UK or Japan to here, you'll hear about things you have to do for regulations. They have different specs in Japan and Euro countries that require that buldge there.

Just like Euro spec vehicles require Fender blinkers, as you can see on Audi's or VW's.... Eclipse's in the UK have blinkers on the fenders, OEM! They also have folding mirrors, Amber Signals on the tail lights. Euro Spec tails have reverse fog lights, jdm don't.

Why do they need fog lights on the tail lights?

1st Gen DSM's didn't have the fogs in the Tails. They were in the bumpers if you had the higher end models, or bolted onto the bumper if you had the lower end models. Some even had a single reverse light, and a the other one was a red lens for the reverse fog. Why? I really do not know, but I just think its too cool. Here is a picture of the reverse fogs lit up on a 1st Gen:

It must get so fogy out there, that you need them so the car behind you can see you.

I built my own for my 2gb rear bumper using my reverse lights, when they are lit up the road lights up very nice behind me... I don't know if its for the driver or for people to see them from behind. But I like! I had a VW Golf with some German Tails that had the rear Fogs, they were about as bright as the brake lights, just in a smaller shape

Take a drive out here this month. You'll wish all cars had rear fogs.

Unfortunatly they are manual folding mirrors, the mirrors are power adjustable, and manual folding. I can possibly get you a set... Might not be color matched tho... They look pretty good I think.

I'll have to hit you up when I take my car to the body shop for bodywork and paint. My pass. side power mirror doesn't adjust anymore.

That is exactly why they have them. The mountainous area in the southern are gets near 0 visibility when its foggy. It's pretty incredible, on my way to Italy I experienced fog like I have seen before nor since, it almost seemed like we lost 4 hours of daylight in about 3 seconds. The roads have lights built into them on the sides and in the markings on the road so you can see your lane. It was awesome.... my wife thought we were going to die... or even the movie Mist.

They always make a big deal of the fog here in the Central Valley, but I'm not sure it's as bad as what settles in along 37 between 101 and Sears Point. There were times out there that I nearly considered slowing down.

Rubber, your headlights are the same. The insides were just painted black. I'm not talking about the blacked out 2ga headlights, I'm talking about the blinker area, where it rises up like our 2gb (facelift model) headlights. USDM 2ga headlights don't have that and yours do! All you gotta do is take your headlights apart and paint the chrome peice black, alot of people do it.

that 1G red gst, where could i find that rear bumper at? and yea the stock 2ga headlights arent as pretty as the edm headlights, and btw there is no jdm eclipse headlights, or jdm eclipse anything
