Good to hear you are updating the safety of the car. Last time me and some friends saw you at NOPI last year we were talking about it since I know you were certified for your previous time's but we were wondering if you were gonna do any updates. Good to hear and can't wait to see you again.

Well where do I start. Yes I will race the car again but I doubt it will make any passes this season.

It came down to safety. The car could have still run the way it was and I am sure it would have clicked off some 7.5's but if I had an accident there was a good chance at well over 195 mph that I may not be around. Please remember I have a wife and 3 kids to support as well.

So as it sits the car has been acid dipped, everything from the frt to the back has been taken apart and it currently has a 25.1e chassis so it will be safe and legal for 7.5 and quicker. The car was making very good progress but we finally came to the realization that it would not be ready for the beginning of the season so the decision was made to take our time and do things that we have wanted to try and as always make it unique.

All I can promise you now is that I promise you will not be disappointed :)

John

Are you still going to the dsm shootout? Even if the car is not there it won't be the same if your missing!

Proof of a professional. Racing's all kinds of fun. But first things are first. :thumb:

i'll just watch some previous passes on youtube to make myself feel better for the upcoming season.

John, I think we need an update. You know your a "hero" to us, we need to know that everything is ok.

Also just curious do you have a name for you Talon?

We'd have been gentler if you'd not picked names like "Daisy", "Petunia", "Sweetums", and "Sugarlumpkins".

Sue was a sentimental name for me.

Layla sounds like a stripper name and

I just named Audrey. That sounds like a stripper with two kids.

I do like Sugarlumpkins though...hmmm

Daisy is still around and running strong LOL

I saw him in his evo at the shootout and thought wow he seems like a real cool mello guy. guess that proves it. Can't wait to see the car when its done.

Sorry guys I made a post and must have forgot to submit reply.

Car is coming along nice but slow. We are down to the rear hatch and wing and some tin work then choosing new wheels. Unfortunately the volks will not work anymore.

I expect about another month in paint after that and a few months of assembly so it "should" be ready for some spring testing. The car will be another 150 lbs or so lighter and we will be using a much larger turbo.

As for names.. well I don't really have any for it unless something goes wrong then I have plenty of names for it.

It is good to hear from you. I followed your progress all these years by reading magazinez that your car is featured and the other fast DSMs out there. Owning one 1990 AWD since they came out, I'm pretty impress how you guys made the cars this quick. Good Luck next year.

Don't worry John I'll come up with a good one for your car when you decide to donate it to me. :D

It sure will be nice to have a car with a Shep style drive train, I break the shat outa my trannies.

Also John, for $400 would you take me for a rip down the 1320 with you if I come to a test & tune your at?

I saw a article few years back and your car was called dark star and was running 9s on toyo street tires. I beleive it was in sport compact magazine. Far as name goes for cars .

LOL! I think i still have that issue! On the back of the car, it had the decal that said, "GONE V8 HUNTING back in seconds. That is the article that turned me on to DSMs! A good 5 or 6 years ago I think.

A little photo-progress never hurts either...just for a little tease LOL.
