I was running one cerwin vega 12 off a rockford punch 500, and got bored. Dont know what subs im going with yet, but have been thing a 10. please send pix of your system so maybe i could get some more ideas ways i could get more sound seeing of the convertable.

well in my talon i just have the box pointed towards the hatch and the amp mounted in the hatch. idk how it is with the convertable but i would suggest pointing it towards you and pointing up. how much room you got in the trunk/hatch?

I have 2-12's in my trunk. hit around 134 db's if I remember correct. I have the pointed fwd in a wedge box (kinda like a truck box). Has 2 handles on the top so when I hit the drag strip it puls out easy.

heh get this you have 2 12"s and it hit 134 and i have one 12" and it hits 140. what kind of subs u got? i would suggest jl audio w6v2 which is what i got.

It's also install. Maybe the box was the wrong size...was your box ported. Maybe he didn't have as much power...... To many factors to blame just the subs.

umm lets see my sub is rated at 400 watts rms and i have a 100-200 watt rms amp!! and it still hits 140 so it cant be the amp. and the box is the appropriate soze so therefore its his subs. i think he has more then 100-200 watts rms going to the sub...

well in my spyder when the top is down my car doesn't hit near as hard as it does with the top up so maybe thats the case i have 2 10's in a sealed box in the trunk facing the rear

well of course because all the sound isnt getting to you its going other places and when the top is up it stays concealed inside the car mostly.

Here are some pictures of an install a good buddy of mine did.

s10 that exactically what i was thinkin, do you know how it hits? Give your boy props on his set up!!!!!

I started off with 2 fosgate's then the paper started to pull away and well pretty much blew. Now I have 2 POS that I got for free. I know my db's would be higher if I had a deeper box. The box I have now is 1 cube per sub. its a norrow one so I can fit stuff in the trunk still. As far as an amp, its a crossfire 600. Not the best but gives me all I need, plus it was free!!!

I forgot to mention that hatchbacks have a few decibal cabin gain versus just about anything, esp. a convertable with top up or down.

WOW!!! i really like that set-up...thats exactly what ive been thinking about doing. i recently got 2 12" Kicker Comp VRs and was tryin to think where i was gonna place them because i have a a 5th wheel in my trunk (18" RacingHart) and dont have that much space...on top of that i pulled out my back seat and installed a power inverted, ps2, and a changer...so i really dont want to subs right there, plus im thinkin of mounting the amp there...could you give me some more details about this particular trunk set-up of yours.

thanks

josh

91s-10 how long did it take him to complete the job?

VERY sorry for the long response. I have had family in town, sister's graduation, you name it.

He did the entire setup in a day, from like 10-6 IIRC. Keep in mind he has been doing audio for years and years because he competes in DbDrag.

He said it hits pretty hard for what it is, but nothing special. Probably nothing special because he is used to 3000 watts or more.

Thanks, I'll be sure to let him know. Incase I forgot to mention it, this is not my car nor my sisters. It's some girl who was referred to him to build this box.

What are you looking for as far as details? The entire floor is covered with wood, to retain the spare, and give a better surface to build the boxes upon. Then he started building up from there. The boxes fit tight against the corner, but with enough of a gap all the way around to carpet (duh!). I never heard it in person, but he said the setup hit hard for two low-line speakers and a small amp.

Just let me know if you'd like to know anything else.

I know they are about 12" deep, and they came out to an even cube for each side. He used 1/2" MDF.
