Bar and plate flows more, it is stronger, harder to damage with road debris, weighs more.

Tube and fin, flows less, it is less strong, can be damaged easily compared to the bar and plate and weighs less.


I have a bar and plate XS/SSAC FMIC.

ETS makes a hybrid core, if you want tube/fin and bar/plate in one core.

Also to install something like that would I have to chop up the bumper (not the bumper cover)? How dangerous would it be to Drive on the street like that? or would it be worth getting a half hight one for saftey v. performance?

You will have to cut the 5mph crash bumper on anything close to this size. I had no problems driving mine around with the bumper cut--it's designed to protect from 5 mph crashes, so basically parking lot bumps. The only down side is insurance is likely to rape you if they find out, even if the crash is at 50 mph.
