Ok, so the next few days will be very busy for me. I've got to finish up my timing job by saturday so I can install a few power adders that I got a great deal on.

Right now I have these mods installed currently:

Ebay Intake
Buscher UICP
Dejon LICP
1G Bov
MSD Wires
Boost and Oil Pressure Gauges
Oil Catch Can

And these are the items that I want to install all at once (in 2-3 days; God help me:sosad: )

Evo III 16G
Tubular Mani
Tubular O2 Housing
Voodoo MBC
Apexi' N1 Downpipe
Apex'i N1 Catback
24X12X3 with 2.5 inch piping
Greddy TT

Now as you can see from my current mods there are nothing fuel related and there won't be until next month. My plan is to run really low boost after installing all these parts (no more than between 12 and 14psi).

What are things to look out for, things to expect, things to do while and after the turbo has been installed, THINGS NOT TO DO and the power gains to expect even with such low boost levels?????

My plan is to purchase these next month

Walbro 255 or maybe 190 (rewired)
Aeromotive FPR
550's
Logger
SAFC

Missing anything?
Then after this I'll slowly start doing drivetrain mods.

It's been my expieriance that you'd better have all the tools, gaskets, bolts, antisieze etc. and redbull necessary plus extra's on hand... and even then, you'll wanna make sure your close to a schucks/autozone/pepboys. Seriously though, have fun.. that's gonna be one helluva change even at 14 lbs.

I know when my T25 took a crap and I replaced it with an EVO III 16g... I about crapped my pants.

I'm sure you know this already, but I would definitely behave boost wise until you get a better clutch for starters. I had my boost set at 12psi with a 16G on a stock clutch.

When you hit boost, there is an extreme difference between the T25 and B16G.

As for your future mods, I would honestly just get the 255 pump, and bigger injectors. I bought a 190 with 550's when I first started working on mine. I think they lasted a month before I moved up from there.

Also, if you can afford it, just go ahead with DSMlink with a EPROM ECU. You'll have more options than you could ever imagine.

However, this all depends on two things:

1)Your goals
2)Most importantly, how head strong you are in sticking with your goals. :thumb:

I failed miserably at #2. :tease:

Goals are anywhere between 275 and 320 street driven (doesn't really matter). I've been thinking about DSMlink alot lately and have been doing research. I'll make my mind up in the next month. Gonna have a buddy help me out too.

Definitely do some more research. I thought I had it all said and done myself, then to sell so many parts to get what I should have gotten in the first place.

Best of luck for all you're going after. :thumb:

I did that last winter with my old car, and ended up taking a month because
1. I'm lazy
2. It was really really cold
3. I didn't have the tools

So, I guess I'm trying to say, make sure you have all the tools you need, and don't be lazy.

Also, don't turn the boost up without fuel mods. It's better safe than sorry IMO, and I'd hope you would have the self control to lay off the throttle for a month.

I actually did the 16G swap about three months ago and I still love it. there is a few things to watch out for the stainless oil feed from mach V is a must you can use the factory oil drain with a new gasket. I had issues with fan spacing in the 2G but a first gen no problem. other than that Just take it easy for awile just let the turbine spool low just to get everything oiled. Good luck:dsm

Trust me when they say keep the boost low, keep the boost to no more than 15 psi.
I got happy after my t25 crapped out and I put a evo3 in. Turned up the boost, couple monthes later melted a piston.
Not trying to scare you, but no more than 15 psi and I suggest getting the logger asap no matter what boost. You will be able to make sure everything is functioning right.

Yeah, I'm really planning on running low boost. I definitely dont want to mess anything up at all. Anymore advice on installing the turbo? What to do after it is installed?

My 2g install kit was from Extreme PSI so it's complete...

Soak everything in PB blaster beforehand.
Get a breaker bar.
I broke 2 3/8ths inch sockets trying to get my turbo-manifold bolts off, so you may or may not need to use a 1/2" drive.
Make sure you prime the turbo first.
Take your time.

I've had my EVO III 16g on now for about 3 weeks. That's not a lot of time, but I had mine professionally installed and tuned by English Racing. I've got my boost set at 14 lbs. but am rest assured because they inspected and checked to make sure that my fuel pump would be able to keep up with the extra air. Even at 14 lbs. I'm still running plenty rich. These numbers may work for your car, but there are A LOT of variables I'm sure. DON'T SET YOUR BOOST BASED ON MY NUMBERS OR ANYONE ELSE'S. Maybe the best piece of advice I could give you would be, after doing the install, take it to a professional that you trust and pay them the $70+/hour to have them hook it up to their datalogger and double check that everything is in spec. ESPECIALLY YOUR FUEL PUMP! I drove my car 3 hours away to have the install and check done by a DSM professional. I don't regret spending the time/money to do that one bit.

On a side note, I've got that same VOODOO III MBC too! I also just got myself Pocketlogger and a Palm and for $150 and now I can see what's going on as well and that feels good inside. :D

Oh yea.. make sure you have the 2g install kit. Most would think this is a no-brainer, but when I got mine installed. I didn't realize that they needed an install kit for the 2g's. I didn't see it listed in your list of parts so I thought I'd mention it.

May I suggest anti seizing your bolts:D Amazing how fast things lock up [within minutes of breakin period] D'oh. Is your o2 old? Might as well replace it while you have that o2 housing off, save some pita later. Good Luck and enjoy that 16G power:rocks:

Thanks for the advice on the anti seize, will definitely get some on the way home from work. The O2 sensor was replaced couple months ago.

Most definitely. I didn't do this first hand. However I was very lucky to have not broken anything. An old buddy of mine a few years back with is '96 GSX. He was not as fortunate. :notgood:
