Some of you might remember me, most probably don't.

However, I sold the DSM last Winter, and bought a '94 Mazda Miata M-Edition in January.

It is now the only (to my knowledge) LS1-powered M-Edition Miata in the world.

I still miss the DSM a bit, but I think I'm ok for the time being with the new project.

By the way, it's my daily driver. Goal is 120 NA (on a pretty much stock motor) and ~135 on the juice.

Not quite done, but almost ready to rock. Just needs a couple of small things.

Just thought I'd share with the community that I started with!

Looks like that would make a really fun car to drive, albeit it still looks like a Miata. (sorry, just a personal opinion.)

I especially like this pic: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g32/60dash1/timfire.jpg

You are substantially upgrading the breaking system to handle all that additional weight, right?

Minimal additional weight. Take into the consideration that the LS1 is all aluminum. I've added maybe a few hundred pounds.

LOL I'm sure he's talking about trap speed.

Coup - how are ya man!? Most won't remember you, but I do. Glad the thing is working out well for ya :thumb: I went to a car show and a guy had a stroked 305 in his little miata and that thing was badass.

good to hear you are doing well. There is a LS1 Miata around here, sick.... i hope you enjoy it. I guess you arent coming back..... :) good to hear that you remembered us

Got the speedo mounted and calibrated.

With only myself in the car (185 lbs) the car will spin first, second, and into third if I let it, on the OEM 185/60/14 all-seasons. With my friend in the car (icedearth15,) it'll dead hook in second (he's 260-300, depending on training routines.)

Ordering Nitto 555R's soon, maybe tonight.

The car gets more looks, praise, and appreciation than the DSM ever did, but then again, a lot of the cruises I go to are muscle/classic cruises :p

I remember Coupe, glad you got into a new project. that looks really well done. Did you fab all of the mounting solutions on your own?

You gotta get us a vid of her rolling.

Best of luck with it.

Theres a guy local to me running a 5.0 from a mustang in his Miata. His tag reads "MI8TA". Deceiving until you realize it has a cam, heads, and a 125 shot. Idle is a dead give-away.

thats what is so great about the ls1 swap in an FD rx7, because of the all aluminum it ends up only weighing about 50lbs or so more than the 1.3 rotary engine, one of the tuner magazines did a test with a ls1 camaro, a modded fd and a fd with an ls1, it was an awesome article

theres a guy down in VA beach that was trying to sell his swap'd miata, man from the videos i saw it was crazy. so much power in that lil car

its already been done on a newer miata but looks awesome

It's been done several times. I'm pretty sure I'm number 9 or so. Number 1 with an M-Edition.

Actually, I'm friends with the owners/shop of the car I'm pretty sure you're talking about.
