Hey all. I was wondering if I could use a spare keydiver chip I have laying around with dsmlink. I heard that only the v2 chips from dsmlink only work. Can anyone back that up?

A Keydriver chip is an Eprom programmed with info you submitted for your setup, injectors, fuel pressure, timing.

DSMlink is an Eprom chip with similiar parameters installed but also with coding to allow you to LOG and TUNE via laptop with a special DSMlink cable.

A Keydriver chip will not work with a DSMlink interface. And the DSMlink logging program will NOT log without the cable from DSMlink AKA "ECM tuning" since that is the copy protection for the guys that started DSMlink.

So to answer your Question, NO the Keydriver chip will only work as a keydriver chip and not work with DSMlink.

Socketed E-prom + Keydiver chip = DSMchip setup
Socketed E-prom + DSMlink chip + DSMlink software = DSMlink setup

You can't combine the two and/or put the Keydiver chip and expect it to work with the DSMLink software.

Well here is the situation. I have a dsm link cable and the software. I screwed my ecu up, therefor I have no more dsmlink chip. I dont know where I cant pick up a new one. I dont think I can pick up just a chip from dsmlink. So where am I sitting rite now? What can I do.

Call them up and/or email them and give them your information. I know that dsmlink comes with a serial code or something to prove that you are the original owner. They could help you out better than we could with getting a new chip.

I talked to Tom about this yesterday. He said it was $30 for a new chip. Just shoot him an email, he's a really nice guy and I can't believe how much help he provided when I was looking at getting a copy off ebay.

just want some opinions.. i plan on running a evo 16g with 650s.. should i get the keydiver stage 3 with the 650 injector deal they are selling.. i am not wanting to get dsmlink because i do not know how to tune. and the nearest awd dyno is not close.. it is my daily driver and i only plan on running 20 pounds of boost. i have aem wideband.. and all the basic bolt ons, exhaust, intercooler, bov, and i plan on gettting gm maft before i get the keydiver. i just basically want to know if keydiver would be the best solution
